Wayne NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of AMJAD MASHAL (DOB: 7/04/1992; single; self-employed) of 9 Tammy Terrace, Wayne, NJ, on bribery and CDS possession charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.
In March 2021, AMJAD MASHAL was kidnapped by several individuals who were charged with kidnapping, weapons offenses, and other related charges in April 2021. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad revealed that MASHAL thereafter communicated with a family member of one of the kidnapping defendants who bribed MASHAL with approximately $100,000 in consideration for submitting a new sworn statement to the Court which would result in one of the defendants being released from jail on the kidnapping charges.
On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Wayne Police Department, and Clifton Police Department executed multiple search warrants at the residence and business of MASHAL. MASHAL was arrested without incident outside his business in Clifton, NJ, and a search of MASHAL’s business revealed suspected CDS.
MASHAL was charged with one count of third-degree witness or informant taking a bribe, N.J.S.A. 2C:28-5(c); and one count of third-degree possession of CDS, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10(1).
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Wayne and Clifton Police Departments for their assistance in this investigation.
