Westwood Women Struck by Car on Paramus Road

Paramus NJ, according to Paramus Police a 61-year-old Westwood woman died after being struck by a car in front of a church in Paramus on Sunday.

Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said Around 11:30 a.m., police were called to the scene of the accident at Assyrian Apostolic Church on Paramus Road after receiving a report that a woman was hit while trying to cross the street.

Paramus Police and Paramus EMS tried to treat the pedestrian, Lucy Akdemir, and she was taken to Valley Hospital, where she later died due to her injuries.

Ehrenberg reported that further investigation revealed Akdemir had almost crossed Paramus Road when she was struck by a 2006 Toyota Highlander driven by Christal Chang, a 56-year-old Ridgewood woman.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and no charges have been filed.

    joggers get off the asphalt. hit the sidewalks until spring
