Wyckoff NJ, in Wyckoff, NJ, school board elections are far from dull. The Wyckoff school board oversees the local district schools, while residents also elect representatives to the Ramapo-Indian Hills School District board, which governs the two high schools serving students from Wyckoff, Oakland, and Franklin Lakes.

Election Details

This year, Wyckoff residents will choose two candidates for the town school board and one candidate for the regional Ramapo-Indian Hills board. Candidates had to file their forms and signatures by Monday, July 29 at 4 p.m. They will appear on the ballot alongside presidential and other candidates in the November 5 General Election.

Controversy in the Ramapo-Indian Hills Board

The Ramapo-Indian Hills school board has faced significant controversy over the past year, especially after a new board majority took control. The board recently rescinded a contract for a newly hired superintendent, amid other heated issues. The board had previously overturned some recommendations by the former superintendent in Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying cases, and there were disagreements regarding counseling programs in schools.

Eight people filed to run for the Wyckoff or Ramapo-Indian Hills school boards. Here’s a breakdown of the candidates:

Wyckoff Board of Education

  • Georgina Nico and Kathleen M. Greaney: Running unopposed as a slate, “Moving Children Forward.”

Ramapo-Indian Hills Board of Education (Wyckoff Seat)

  • Marianna Emmolo: Running with the slogan “Leadership With Integrity.”
  • John P. Kinney Jr.: Running with the slogan “Supporting Our Students,” with similar candidates in Franklin Lakes and Oakland.

  • Franklin Lakes:
    • Helen Koulikourdis, “Supporting Our Students.”
    • Caryn Nash, “Academics, Not Activism.”

  1. Dionisio was a boys club, backstabber. They had a great woman principal at Verona. He came in and took all her power away and the school was basically ruined. His own son hated school until a teacher changed that who he decided to get rid of a year later because he was jealous that he couldn’t do the same.
