From a bench in the shade, 6-year-old Will Sullivan of Ridgewood watches with his big blue eyes as children play an impromptu game of football at Citizen’s Park.

He kicks his feet back and forth, taking delight in the activity surrounding him.

Will has Angelman Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder, rendering him nonverbal and developmentally delayed, yet unmistakably happy, charismatic and sociable.

The children he’s watching have taken a break from their packed day of soccer and football practices to take a photo with Will, who they are fundraising for in the Franklin Lakes Youth Biathlon. Known as Team Goodwill, the 15 youngsters sport blue bracelets with “Will Power” and “Team Goodwill” in black block lettering to support and spread awareness of his condition.
