CARLSTADT, NJ – A major three-alarm fire tore through a commercial warehouse on Washington Avenue Friday morning, sending plumes of smoke across Bergen County and prompting a massive multi-agency emergency response.

While the blaze caused significant structural damage to two established local businesses, officials have confirmed that all employees were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.

Emergency Response on Washington Avenue

The fire broke out at 690 Washington Avenue, a busy commercial hub in Carlstadt. Local reports began circulating around 10:30 a.m. when the Wallington Engine Company 202 confirmed they were on the scene for a mutual aid assignment.

As the fire escalated to three alarms, the sky turned gray over North Jersey, with commuters reporting heavy smoke visible from Route 17.

  • Wallington Engine Company 202

  • Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department (Chiefs 61, 62, and Ladder 1)

  • Multiple surrounding North Jersey fire crews.

Investigation Underway
