Ridgewood NJ, The controversial Schedler property development was back in the spotlight at Wednesday night’s Ridgewood Village Council meeting, with local officials detailing over $214,000 in cash and in-kind pledges from area youth and adult sports organizations.
The proposed turf field development at the Schedler site has long been a key point of debate across the Village. The project pits nearby neighbors, health and safety-conscious residents, and local nature advocates against growing youth sports organizations seeking additional field capacity. Despite ongoing pushback from opposition groups, the Village Council continues to move forward with project plans.
During the meeting, officials outlined the full breakdown of private contributions designated for Schedler’s athletic infrastructure.

Local athletic organizations have identified a combined total of $184,000 in cash and $30,000 in equipment/in-kind support, bringing the overall total to $214,000.
1. Maroons Soccer Club (MSC) – $150,000 Total

Been ripping off the parents in town for years suggesting if their kids play maroon$$$$ year round they will become soccer superstars. MSC has been great for the Football and Lacrosse programs in town.

Would be nice if village leadership would present a chart showing the benefits of artificial turf vs natural turf for this project. What are the pros & cons of the various field construction materials, I trust they have done the research with their experts and have documented facts. It is time to share, so the residents understand how you select the best option. We all have our opinions, but would like to understand how the 5 council members are evaluating the environmental impact/long term costs/sports advantages/safety/medical & health/image challenge. It is complicated based on what you value the most.
