The World Health Organization has formally declared the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic.
As you may have read, Bergen County has the most cases of Coronavirus in NJ. Officials are warning and preparing for continued spreading of the virus.
Dawn Cetrulo, our Health Officer, has been working to ensure we have the most updated information from the NJ Department of Health and the CDC and has been in contact with the Superintendent of Ridgewood Schools on a daily basis.
As recommended by the National Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention, there are series of non-pharmaceutical practices that can help limit the spread of respiratory illnesses such as flu and COVID-19:
– Wash your hands frequently. If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
– Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
– Be mindful of contact with persons who may be suffering from a respiratory illness.
– Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.
– Stay home if you are sick.
– Avoid large gatherings.
