Ridgewood NJ, the May 3rd Village Council agenda features a presentation on “Electric Vehicles for Village Department” . The state of New Jersey offers a series of incentives to promote of the adaption of of what it calls clean energy . According to the State , “New Jersey is leading the way on electric vehicle (EV) adoption on the East Coast. Governor Phil Murphy has set a goal of registering 330,000 EVs in New Jersey by 2025, which will reduce emissions from the transportation sector and help reach the goals of New Jersey’s Energy Master Plan and the Global Warming Response Act. The transportation sector accounts for 46% of the state’s net greenhouse gas emissions, making it the largest emissions source. ”
Frankly we are big fans of ebikes and think its a far better alternative for the Village , it clear that post COVID many Village employees could use the exercise.
One of those programs is the ,”Clean Fleet EV Incentive Program”.
Clean Fleet EV Incentive Program
The Clean Fleet Electric Vehicle Incentive Program supports local and state governments as they transition their fleets to EVs. The Program allows local and state government entities in New Jersey to apply for $4,000 grants toward the purchase of battery electric vehicles, $5,000 grants for public Level-Two chargers, and $4,000 grants toward the purchase of a fleet Level-Two EV charging station(s).
Eligible entities include local schools, municipal commissions, state agencies or boards, state commissions, state universities, community colleges, county government and county authorities in addition to municipalities, municipal utility authorities, and state agencies. Award caps are based on population.
Overburdened Municipalities are eligible for bonus incentives.
Applications are due June 2, 2023.

The nut job environmentalists won’t allow the necessary clean natural gas pipelines to supply fuel for our electric plants, or allow new clean reliable nuclear powerplants to be built.

They don’t weigh much more than the cars for which the garages were designed back then. Before the left decided cars had to be made of paper mache without decent spares so they could meet arbitrary mileage numbers.

Electric vehicles can be anywhere from hundreds to thousands of pounds heavier than similarly sized gas vehicles because EV batteries are so much heavier than engines.

What does the Village plan to do when a hurricane shuts power off for a week? Run generators to charge the vehicles?

It’s a dream for them. The village has No money. What are they going to do bond it. How about repairing what we have now. How about having the fleet professionally cleaned.

How many Council members drive electric vehicles? Last time I looked, ZERO was the answer.
Actually, this is a good idea. Electric cars are way cheaper to charge up and maintain. So, goofy motive but will save us money in the long run.

Liberals are in such lockstep when it comes to stupidity. In my street they are in a race about who gets an electric Mazda car first and who installs the charging station. Then they move on to installing panels while cutting beautiful mature trees for the panels’ sun exposure. I haven’t seen a more dumb group of people. They all think the same, rarely anyone dares to do something different. I asked a couple with very young kids about the room where the kids sleep and they’re right under the panels on the roof. Has it ever occurred to you that the panels might present a dangerous (potentially cancerous) electric field right on top of your babies? SMH.
