Bayonne NJ, this pictured pup, “Rocco” was recently taken off his owner’s front porch in Bayonne New Jersey. The owner was attending to yard work while Rocco was briefly out of sight. Several actors entered the property, detached the leash securing Rocco, took him and fled towards the NJ TRANSIT 45th Street Station.
To help bring Rocco home, New Jersey Transit Police Detectives scoured system surveillance cameras and tracked the actors’ movements through the system. The actors had boarded a light rail vehicle, disembarked at Hoboken Terminal, and entered the PATH system to NYC. NJTPD Detectives secured multiple clear images of the actors to assist Bayonne Police. Another NJTPD Detective reached out to Port Authority Police and NYPD which helped to pinpoint Rocco’s location in the Bronx.
Due to this joint effort, Rocco was safely located by a Bayonne Detective and members of the NYPD 52nd Precinct. NJTPD Detectives Brian Lee, Edward Choate, Ruben Mendez, and Police Officer Steve Chong worked with our partner agencies to ensure Rocco was reunited with his family.
We share this good news as a reminder. If you have pets, please don’t leave them alone outdoors. A moment could be all it takes to leave you separated.
