Tragic Motorcycle Accident Claims Life on Route 17 in Maywood

Maywood NJ, a 37-year-old man was tragically killed Tuesday morning following a motorcycle crash on Route 17 in Bergen County, according to local authorities.

Maywood Police received multiple 911 calls around 10:25 a.m. reporting a downed motorcyclist in the southbound lanes of Route 17 near the Essex Street exit ramp. Upon arrival, officers discovered the motorcyclist unresponsive and not breathing.

First aid was administered at the scene before the man was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries. His identity has been withheld pending notification of his family.

An initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle collided with a second vehicle, causing the motorcyclist to veer off the highway and into a grassy median. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and has not been charged.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the risks faced by motorcyclists and the importance of road safety for all drivers. Authorities will continue to examine the circumstances to determine the exact cause of the collision.
