Franklin Lakes NJ, on December 7th , the Franklin Lakes Fire Department responded to a structure fire after receiving an activated fire alarm and multiple 911 reports of smoke emanating from a residence. Upon arrival, the Franklin Lakes Police Department confirmed the presence of an active structure fire.
Emergency Response Efforts
Chief of Department Chuck Bohny, while en route to the scene, escalated the incident to a second alarm, summoning additional manpower from neighboring towns. This ensured adequate resources were available for both on-site efforts and borough-wide coverage.
The Franklin Lakes EMS team treated one resident for smoke inhalation at the scene. While three pet dogs were safely rescued, the family suffered the heartbreaking loss of two cats.
Investigation and Status
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Squad is currently assisting in determining the cause of the fire. Tragically, the home has been deemed uninhabitable as a result of the extensive damage.
