PARAMUS, NJ — Following a devastating severe weather event, Paramus Mayor Chris DiPiazza has officially declared a State of Emergency for the Borough. The declaration comes as local officials assess widespread, heavy structural damage concentrated in a well-established residential neighborhood just north of the Ridgewood Country Club and south of West Midland Avenue.

Widespread Destruction and Power Outages
The storm has left the local neighborhood in a state of crisis. Residents walking through the area face unprecedented scenes of damage:

First Responders Launch Door-to-Door Welfare Checks
In the wake of the destruction, emergency personnel from the Paramus Police Department, Paramus Fire Department (IAEP Local 201), and EMTs of Paramus EMS mobilized immediately. Responders are actively conducting door-to-door welfare checks to ensure the safety of residents, many of whom have chosen to shelter in place despite the blackouts.
The Silver Lining: Miraculously, despite the extensive property damage, officials report that no serious storm-related injuries or fatalities have been recorded at this time.

While municipal and utility crews are working around the clock, local authorities warn that full restoration of electricity, internet, and phone services will take considerable time due to the volume of downed trees.
