Ridgewood NJ, Village Council Candidate Bernie Walsh comments on Ridgewood News reporting of the elections, “So my experience with the Ridgewood News this week. And the ensuing poorly written article. The reporter was demanding my age – like that matters in an election. Told me he had no opinion of what happens in Ridgewood because he lives in Wayne – even though he works and reports here every day. Talked to me for over a half hour and put three totally out of context quotes in the article. I was the one who kept telling everyone they were wrong that the Ridgewood News could be unbiased. In my 51 years (yes I finally told him my age) I’ve never seen such horrible journalism. Oh and by the way, he had no idea about many of the items I referred to in our conversation. Hopefully, he’ll know more before he writes any more articles.”

Folks the Ridgewood blog would welcome the opportunity to host any letters in support of candidates ,even on election day it self email onlyonesmallvoice@gmail.com Fyi the blog traffic nears 20,000 unique visits per month thank you

  1. These are odd complaints from the only experienced politician in the race. Reporters always ask you lots of questions and then write a story which is much shorter. I agree the age thing was strange and it was strange in the article too. Talking to the press is a pretty important part of the job so this whining is very odd.

  2. Not odd, accurate. She was probably hoping like the rest of us that worthwhile reporting would be done. The Ridgewood News has turned into a rag.

  3. This reporter has never written a balanced story. Bernie should have actually refused to give him any interview.

  4. Not voting for, or electing, Bernie on Tuesday, will be a huge mistake for Ridgewood.
    Vote Walsh, Hache and Voigt!

  5. I disagree – voting for Walsh was a huge mistake in 2010 and it will be no different in 2016, and James knows this but refuses to post the (multiple) reasons why

  6. So because she has a complaint she is whining? Typical of how idiots feel about women in politics. I read her comments and then read the article she referred to and have to agree that age is a strange question in this election, it was clear her comments were sound bites and I’d really like to know what else she said in her responses and the reporter leaned on the association of the voting block to make them sound better. My votes will be for Walsh, Hache and Voigt.

  7. The reporter was not a journalist.

  8. The reporter in that article didn’t post Willet’s age. Weird, are they trying to associate one woman with being of a certain age and not the other? Willet is older than Bernie so it’s kind of funny that they put Bernie’s age in there. Or maybe not if they don’t want people thinking Willet is an old maid.

  9. Sorry Bern but age does matter….would you take a 21-year candidate seriously ? What if a 92 year old wanted to replace Pooch ??

  10. I would take a 100-year-old coffee table over Pooch.

  11. Take Back our Village. Vote Voigt, Hache, Coghlan-Walsh.
    No more #paularonsohn #ridgewoodnj #bergencounty #2016election

  12. 6:21–Fortunately, she does not come close to either age.
