the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Water has named Daniel Timmeny a former executive director with the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission to be its business manager. Timmeny replaces former Business Manager Dave Scheibner, who retired this year. As of this writing we are still not sure as to what qualifications Mr. Timmey brings to the table as to running a water company ?
Judge Friscia’s decision seemed to take the Village Council and Ridgewood Water by surprise . This is somewhat astonishing given what could be described as overwhelming evidence to the contrary .
The announcement was made Friday, a day after a NJ Superior Court judge ruled against the village of Ridgewood in a lawsuit, finding that it had approved “capricious” and “unreasonable” rate hikes between 2010 and 2012.
The rate hikes eventually totaled a 31 percent increase , but this is New Jersey and I guess there is an assumed BS story for anything.
The Village is now waiting with baited breath because a February statement of findings by the plaintiffs’ attorney, Joseph Fiorenzo, stated that overcharges for the period of January 2010 through July 2016 totaled a staggering $13.8 million.
The judge however found Ridgewood to be responsible for only for refunding overages through 2012.
People what is going on, this new manager may be great where he came from. But all the respect like the other post said, what experienced does he have in the water department. If not this is getting very very dirty, why don’t you hire someone from a water company. How come the village is not hiring from within. We should be trying our younger workers sending him to school to climb the ladder and then you have people with experience many many years how come they can’t figure this out. What a joke
That’s like hiring a police chief there was never a cop. Or Fire Chief that was never a fireman, this guy was in charge of the taxi commission did he ever drive a cab or buy a medallion
Classic Ridgewood bullshit…not only are residents going to get royally screwed because the water department was subsidizing village operations but what’s going to happen when millions have to be paid to the surrounding towns AND we still have to greese the union slobs ?
The water company will lay off workers, or they will sell the company to sues which I believe is a French company
Suez is french, US headquarters in Paramus. They own Hackensack Water
I thought the Suez was Egyptian !
@12:47, all good questions. And since Ridgewood was not part of the suit, Ridgewood residents will not get a refund…
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Fiorenzo, does not have a reputation for understatement. Its very possible the figures he has presented are mis-stated and therefore will not be anywhere near the millions he hoped to win. We’ll have to wait and see.
