Air Quality Alert Issued for Bergen, Essex, Passaic, Union and Hudson Counties , Possible Severe Thunderstorms and Potential Tornadic Activity

Ridgewood NJ, the National Weather Service has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” an approaching cold front will bring potential for scattered strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening. Strong to damaging wind gusts will be the main threat. Hail and even an isolated tornado is also a possibility.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an “air quality action day” for the following counties… Bergen…Essex…Passaic…Union and Hudson. An Ozone Action Day has been declared! Ozone is forecast to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups category for locations along the I-95 corridor. Sensitive individuals including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid strenuous activities during the afternoon and early evening hours.
