Alger Stone Day in the Village of Ridgewood!

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood American Legion Post 53 hosted a special meeting today in honor of Legionnaire Alger Stone’s 100th birthday!

Alger is a World War II veteran who fought in the European campaign, and is a Purple Heart recipient. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were on hand for the celebration, which included a special proclamation from the Village Council. August 21, 2024 was officially Alger Stone Day in the Village of Ridgewood!

As of the latest estimates, the number of centenarians in the United States is around 97,000. This number has been increasing due to advances in healthcare, better living conditions, and a greater awareness of healthy lifestyle choices. The U.S. has one of the highest populations of centenarians in the world, with this group representing a growing segment of the elderly population.

  1. My uncle is 101. WW2 vet (in the Pacific).

    His non-blood niece stole $93K from his account. He’s unable to pay his rent so now he’s in a VA hospital for the rest of his days.

    The niece was arrested last week for Elder Abuse.

    The wheels of justice grind slowly…
