Ridgewood NJ, on Monday night at the Ridgewood Board of Education meeting Ridgewood Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Gorman gave the following updates :

COVID Update , for the month of September, Ridgewood Public Schools recorded 36 positive COVID cases over 19 days of school. The district has had zero student-to-student COVID transmissions while in school during the past 11 months of school; all positive cases were contracted outside of school. Parents and students are encouraged to be mindful of safety protocols when at gatherings and events.

The HEPA filters were delivered on Monday and will be placed in the different locations in the buildings starting tomorrow.

K-5 Lunch ,the elementary principals adjusted lunch schedules to accommodate more students outside over the last two weeks. Beginning last Friday, students who were signed out for lunch have been able to return for recess. Each elementary school is handling the process differently, either using paid staff members or parent volunteers.

Fields Update , all three fields that underwent clean-up following the storm are now playable. The first home games were held on the RHS Stadium Field last week, with several thousand people attending Friday night’s football game. The first practice was held on Stevens Field yesterday, and the clean-up of Brookside Field was completed two weeks ago and has been used since that time.

Start Strong Assessments, which replace the spring 2022 New Jersey Student Learning Assessments, are underway at the elementary and middle schools. The assessments will be administered at the high school next week.

  1. At least some of the fields restoration work will be covered by insurance. No so with Maple Field for some reason. Nancy?

  2. We wonder if FEMA is paying for anything.

  3. How much did it cost me?
