East Rutherford NJ, we have heard all this before but the “American Dream Mall ‘ aka Xanadu is threatening to be open October 25th of this year .
It will bring thousands of jobs to the area , tourists from all over the world and promises of traffic nightmares for the next 10 generations.
First conceived in 2003 and most likely the single dumbest idea ever conceived by the state of New Jersey .Just what Bergen County needs another Mall. Originally the Sports Authority folly was known as Xanadu. Billed by Governor Christie as the “ugliest building in the world” it’s gone from one disaster to the next and one owner to the next over the past decade.
Now its finally hear ,just in time to see malls dying all over the country and online shopping being all the rage . In the time it took for completion over 5700 millionaires moved out of the state and over 2 million people fled the high taxes in New Jersey . To make matters worse tolls have seen parabolic increases and gas tax has skyrocketed leaving little to no incentive to shop in state which at one time was a retail magnet.
The first phase of American Dream will open on October 25th, 2019. This includes the Nickelodeon Theme Park and The Rink At American Dream. A spooky skate is planned for October 31st including pumpkin pick-and-paint, farm favorites, face painting, and other autumn activities.
The second phase of American Dream will open on November 27th, 2019. This includes the DreamWorks Water Park.
The third phase of American Dream will open on December 5, 2019. This includes Big SNOW.
The fourth phase of American Dream will open in March, 2020. This includes shopping, dining, and other entertainment destinations.
