American Dream Mall Sees Significant Boost in First-Quarter 2024 Earnings

East Rutherford NJ, American Dream, the sprawling retail and entertainment complex in the Meadowlands, reported a significant increase in its first-quarter earnings for 2024, according to public filings. The 3 million-square-foot mall in East Rutherford, owned by Canadian developer Triple Five, generated nearly $148 million in gross sales from January to March, encompassing revenue from retail, attractions, entertainment, dining, and parking.

Black Friday Bomb Scare Hits American Dream Mall in East Rutherford

East Rutherford  NJ, the American Dream mall in New Jersey, the second-largest mall in the country, experienced an evacuation shortly after opening on Black Friday due to a bomb threat that was later determined to be unfounded, according to police.

American Dream Mall Misses Debt Payment

East Rutherford NJ, It’s no wonder the American Dream megamall—dubbed “the ugliest building in the world,” by ex-Gov Chris Christie—is down in the dumps.

The 3 million-square-foot eyesore and retail fiasco is situated where the old NJ Meadowlands dump used to boil and fester fifty years ago. And for those of you who have a nose for remembering, the stinging odor of that swamp on Route 20 in East Rutherford still lingers.

Toys ‘R’ Us To Open US Flagship Store in the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford

East Rutherford NJ, Toys R Us  is back , the retail franchise, which closed in 2018, is reopening in New Jersey , likely at some point in December, ahead of the holidays . Toys “R” Us filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and shut its doors throughout the country in 2018 but collaborated with department store Macy’s to continue sales.

Delayed Openings for Sea Life Aquarium and Legoland at the American Dream mall

East Rutherford NJ, more delays for Xanadu ie … the American Dream Mall.  The openings of Sea Life Aquarium and Legoland , have been postponed until the summer. The original  opening date for the two attractions was set for May 4. On Wednesday, a spokesperson announced the delay, less than two weeks before the planned opening.

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco promoted what he called ,” a visionary public transportation, infrastructure and economic development project between the County of Bergen and the BCIA took a major step forward after receiving unanimous approval from the NJ State Local Finance Board. The project, praised by the Finance Board for its innovation, will transform vacant property and one of the state’s busiest bus depots into a multimodal transportation hub right in downtown Hackensack, the County Seat. It’s a fact that public transportation provides economic opportunities. Every $1 invested in public transportation generates $5 in economic returns.”

Retail Apocalypse, No reopening plans for NJ’s Xanadu American Dream Mall

East Rutherford NJ, After nearly two decades of construction delays and billions pumped in from New Jersey tax payers , New Jersey’s mega-mall American Dream partially opened last October. Six months later, the three-million-square-foot venue was forced to close its doors because of the coronavirus pandemic. Now, even as the state continues its gradual reopening, there is still no reopening date for the $5 billion mall. As NJ.com reported, owner Triple Five Group has missed three consecutive mortgage payments and retail tenants are getting out of their leases at the space. On top of that, contractors and subcontractors have filed over $13 million in construction liens for unpaid work.

AMERICAN DREAM UNVEILS NICKELODEON UNIVERSE AND THE RINK

EAST RUTHERFORD NJ, Friday marks the official opening of the American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  Nickelodeon Universe, the largest indoor theme park in the Western Hemisphere, and The Rink – an NHL-size ice skating and hockey facility opened to guests, marking the first chapter in the revolutionary destination’s opening.

Don Ghermezian, CEO of American Dream and President of Triple Five, and Ken Downing, Chief Creative Officer of Triple Five greeted guests as they descended the stairs into Nickelodeon Universe.  They were joined by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.  The crowd of over 2500 was entertained by a host of Nickelodeon characters including the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dora the Explorer and the Clifton Mustang Marching Band surprised and delighted guests in a parade through the park led by SpongeBob Square Pants.

State Has Yet to Issue Certificate of Occupancy for Xanadu ie…American Dream Mall

East Rutherford NJ, In less than 48 hours before the much-anticipated, derided and ridiculed Xanadu sorry American Dream Mall is supposed to open but, the state has yet to issue a certificate of occupancy that would allow the long-delayed amusement and retail complex to open on Friday.

Officials expect to open two of the American Dream’s entertainment options: Nickelodeon Universe and Theme Park and The Rink at American Dream.

East Rutherford NJ, we have heard all this before but the “American Dream Mall ‘ aka Xanadu is threatening to be open October 25th of this year .

It will bring thousands of jobs to the area , tourists from all over the world and promises of traffic nightmares for the next 10 generations.

First conceived in 2003 and most likely the single dumbest idea ever conceived by the state of New Jersey .Just what Bergen County needs another Mall. Originally the Sports Authority folly was known as Xanadu. Billed by Governor Christie as the “ugliest building in the world” it’s gone from one disaster to the next and one owner to the next over the past decade.

East Rutherford  NJ,  according to Governor Phil Murphy the opening date for the American Dream Mall , originally projected for April, has been pushed back to at least late spring. “First of all, it’s happening. American Dream is happening,” Murphy said. “To the best of my knowledge, the last time I asked, it had slipped, I had thought, closer to June.” Murphy made these not-so-surprising remarks in a brief, one-minute response to a reporter’s question at an unrelated press conference at West Orange High School, where he was talking about school funding. He made the assertion based on his last conversations with the project’s representatives.
