Hoboken NJ, Since Primary Election Day, Tuesday, June 8th, Jose Arango, the Republican-in-name-only who chairs the Hudson County Republican Party, has been celebrating a great victory.
If one were to believe his badly misspelled and severely grammatically challenged social media posts, Arango mobilized Hudson GOP forces to defeat an AOC styled socialist candidate for office. Based on the same social media posts and eye witnesses, at least 8 volunteers, in addition to Arango himself, were on the ground door knocking, wearing t-shirts, and holding signs for his personally chosen Republican opposition to this mini-AOC. From the social media posts regarding this great effort, one can see that this was the largest deployment Arango has ever run for any election in his over decade as chair of the Hudson County Republican Party.
Who was this alleged socialist? It was me, a died-in-the-wool liberty conservative whom Arango has called a right-wing extremist in the past because I believe the Hudson County Republican Party should stand up for the people against the Democrats he works for. Now he calls me a progressive and an AOC Republican. You just can’t make this stuff up.
What was the race? Republican County Committee – a voting district in Hoboken of roughly 7 square blocks. How many people voted? 27 (Off the county line I received 12 votes and there were 3 mail in votes).
Yes, you have been reading correctly. In 2021, with over a decade as Chairman of the Hudson County Republican Party, Jose Arango, known operative for Hudson County Democrats and Democrat US Senator Bob Menendez, spent more GOP resources and sent more volunteers than he has ever done in any race before to take out an actual Republican in an election for GOP county committee.
It gets worse (and even more humorous) than Arango finally campaigning but choosing to do so against an actual Republican. In keeping with this long record of lying, Arango declared multiple times in social and other media that the person he backed is now the Hoboken Municipal GOP leader when he knows full well that that the Chair of the city GOP committee will be elected at the municipal reorganization meeting by its members not appointed by him.
True to form, Arango backed a person hated (but tolerated because he buys tickets to every Democrat fundraiser, unlike Arango who gets them for free because he works for the Democrats) by many local Hudson County & Hoboken political camps and who was until a few months ago a registered Democrat (see here, here, and here). This person, Joseph Branco, is even reported to have attended Democrat Jersey City Mayor Fulop’s fundraiser the week of June 1st.
Yes, the excuse that most Board of Education, Municipal Council, and Mayoral elections in Hudson are “non-partisan” has been stated numerous times by Arango in defense of the work he has done on behalf of the Democrats (see here, here, and here) . Yet the Democrats do not treat “non-partisan” elections as non-partisan, nor do they govern in that fashion. For example, Democrat Fulop’s mayoral office may legally be “non-partisan,” but from the left-wing virtue signaling to the cost-of-living/tax increasing measures, even drunks can tell he is a Democrat. Moreover, it was Fulop who sniffed around what he thought was the political carcass of then on trial Senator Menendez and who was once engaged in a shadow campaign against Democrat State Senate President Sweeney for the Democrat Gubernatorial nomination (until Phil Murphy stepped into that primary with his giant bags of money).
The examples from social and news media of Arango’s, and his new lackey – Joseph Branco’s, love affair with the Democrat Party is well documented. That is why real Republicans in Hudson County have begun to stand up and say that we need to end the era of Arango’s history of working for the Democrats.
Real Republicans in Hudson County know that while we may have lost this sprint, making the Hudson County GOP Republican again is a marathon. I for one, will continue the race.

…sorry Josh but this ship has sailed. Hudson will remain Democratic for centuries to come.
Hudson County politics it’s amazing
