Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Art Institute are very proud of our Heritage and our commitment to perpetuate the study of Classic Realism for over 87 years. Our Founding Father, Arthur Maynard studied under Frank DuMond at The Art Students League and brought that wealth of knowledge with him, when he himself became a Master Instructor.
The photo is a full size sketch for the final painting Maynard eventually did. We were recently gifted this sketch for our awe inspiring Permanent Collection, which features pieces done by both Past and Present Instructors of RAI.

Arthur F. Maynard, a student of Frank Vincent DuMond, was an immensely talented artist and an inspirational teacher. He taught painting for over 40 years, and is considered by many the beloved patriarch of the Ridgewood Art Institute in New Jersey. He held degrees from Princeton and Harvard, served in the Navy in World War II, and studied at the Art Students League with Frank Vincent DuMond for eight years.
