Trenton NJ, in an astonishing turn of events an independent investigation by former State Supreme Court Justice Peter Verniero failed to find out who was responsible for hiring former Schools Development Authority chief of staff Al Alvarez.
Alvarez is at the center of rape allegations by former Murphy staffer State Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency chief of staff Katie Brennan alleged that Alvarez sexually assaulted her in April 2017, when Alvarez was in charge of Muslim and Latino outreach for Murphy’s campaign, for which Brennan would later volunteer.
Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi was incensed after an independent investigation by former State Supreme Court Justice Peter Verniero failed to find out who was responsible for hiring former Schools Development Authority chief of staff Al Alvarez. She told the New Jersey Globe ,”
“I find it absolutely, beyond-the-pale absurd that they are unable to identify who hired this guy,”
Govenour Phil Murphys a boilerplate response , “With former Supreme Court Justice Verniero’s report, we now have more information about how decisions were made and the role current policy and procedures played in those decisions. The report contains hard truths that my Administration must fully accept and also highlights structural issues with gubernatorial transitions that merit reform. I agree with all the corrective actions Justice Verniero recommends, and I will work collaboratively with the Legislature and others to ensure their adoption.”
