Abortion Nation America is only 1 of 4 countries to allow abortions post-viability.
11:58 AM, Sep 20, 2013 • By JONATHAN V. LAST
It’s easy to become inured to the state of abortion in the United States, but every so often someone sends a shock to the system.
In a new book about the history of Roe, Abuse of Discretion, lawyer Clarke Forsythe combs through the historical record of the Supreme Court’s decision, from case files to personal papers, to show exactly how pell-mell the verdict was. And in the course of all this he highlights how out-of-the-norm America’s abortion regime is.
Here’s Forsythe:
The United States is an outlier when it comes to the scope of the abortion “right.” The United States is one of approximately ten nations (of 195) that allow abortion after fourteen weeks of gestation. The others are: Canada, China, Great Britain, North Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore, Sweden, Western Australia, and Vietnam. When it comes to allowing abortion for any reason after viability, however, the United States is joined only by Canada, North Korea, and China. The United States got into this situation because after the second round of arguments in Roe and Doe, the Justices abruptly decided to expand the abortion right they were creating to fetal viability—and then beyond. For forty years, this abrupt decision has had profound implications for late-term abortions, live-birth abortions, and women’s health.
What climate change? Fewer people than EVER believe the world is really warming up
CLIMATE change scepticism is rapidly increasing in the UK with a FIFTH of people now unconvinced the world’s temperature is changing.
A report from the UK Energy Research Centre also shows the number of those who resolutely do not believe in climate change has more than quadrupled since 2005.
The Government funded report shows 19 per cent of people are climate change disbelievers – up from just four per cent in 2005 – while nine per cent did not know.
The report comes as climate change scientists working on a landmark UN report on climate change are struggling to explain why global warming appears to have slowed down in the past 15 years even though greenhouse gas emissions keep rising.
Dr. Roy Spencer, a former NASA scientist and author of Climate Confusion, argues in his influential blog the UN report shows scientists are being forced to “recognise reality”.
He said: “We are now at the point in the age of global warming hysteria where the IPCC global warming theory has crashed into the hard reality of observations.”

The Record
RIDGEWOOD — A subcommittee charged with answering lingering questions related to a long-sought master plan change presented its findings this week to the Planning Board.
The group worked with Ridgewood’s planner Blais Brancheau to come up with several recommendations that the Planning Board could vote on when it meets Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Village Hall.
These recommendations pertain to various project specifications, including lot sizes, building heights, density, parking and each project’s proximity to both the central business district and the village train station.
The subcommittee’s report — outlined before the Planning Board at its Tuesday night meeting — was sought as Ridgewood officials continue contemplating a master plan amendment that would permit high-density, multi-family housing complexes downtown.
At present, four proposals for such developments sit before the Planning Board.
They include The Enclave, a 52-unit, four-story building proposed for East Ridgewood Avenue; the Dayton, a 106-unit apartment building pitched for South Broad Street; the 50-unit Chestnut Village on Chestnut Street; and Ridgewood Station, a 114-luxury apartment and retail complex at the former Ken Smith Motors dealership.

Warren Buffett : Scrap Obamacare and start all over
Healthcare costs in the United States are like a tapeworm eating at our economic body.
Those words come from famed investor Warren Buffett, who said he would scrap Obamacare and start all over.
“We have a health system that, in terms of costs, is really out of control,” he added. “And if you take this line and you project what has been happening into the future, we will get less and less competitive. So we need something else.”
Buffett insists that without changes to Obamacare average citizens will suffer.
“What we have now is untenable over time,” said Buffett, an early supporter of President Obama. “That kind of a cost compared to the rest of the world is really like a tapeworm eating, you know, at our economic body.”
Buffett does not believe that providing insurance for everyone is the first step to take in correcting our nation’s healthcare system.
“Attack the costs first, and then worry about expanding coverage,” he said. “I would much rather see another plan that really attacks costs. And I think that’s what the American public wants to see. I mean, the American public is not behind this bill

Pope Says Church Is ‘Obsessed’ With Gays, Abortion and Birth Control
By LAURIE GOODSTEIN
Published: September 19, 2013 1191 Comments
Six months into his papacy, Pope Francis sent shock waves through the Roman Catholic church on Thursday with the publication of his remarks that the church had grown “obsessed” with abortion, gay marriage and contraception, and that he had chosen not to talk about those issues despite recriminations from critics.
His surprising comments came in a lengthy interview in which he criticized the church for putting dogma before love, and for prioritizing moral doctrines over serving the poor and marginalized. He articulated his vision of an inclusive church, a “home for all” — which is a striking contrast with his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, the doctrinal defender who envisioned a smaller, purer church.
Young group to participate in fundraiser for Ridgewood boy

From a bench in the shade, 6-year-old Will Sullivan of Ridgewood watches with his big blue eyes as children play an impromptu game of football at Citizen’s Park.
He kicks his feet back and forth, taking delight in the activity surrounding him.
Will has Angelman Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder, rendering him nonverbal and developmentally delayed, yet unmistakably happy, charismatic and sociable.
The children he’s watching have taken a break from their packed day of soccer and football practices to take a photo with Will, who they are fundraising for in the Franklin Lakes Youth Biathlon. Known as Team Goodwill, the 15 youngsters sport blue bracelets with “Will Power” and “Team Goodwill” in black block lettering to support and spread awareness of his condition.

Ridgewood resident Dr. Allen Schneiderman is exhibiting several sculptures in Bergen County at the Belskie Museum of Art in Closter. The exhibit, “The Doctor as an Artist,” includes oils, watercolors, prints, photography and sculpture by 18 doctors and dentists.
Dr. Allen Schneiderman poses with his sculpture ‘More Ice, Please.”Where’s the Ice”Froggy”In the Stone’
The opening reception was held on Sept. 8 and featured jazz guitarist Francis Forte. The show will run through Sept. 29. Museum hours are Saturday and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m. with free admission. A similar exhibition by doctors a year ago received rave reviews as they demonstrated a high level of artistic expertise.
“People say the animals I sculpt seem to have movement,” said Schneiderman. He began sculpting shortly after retiring from a teaching career as professor of dentistry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark (now known as Rutgers School of Dental Medicine).
IRS spied on tea party after granting tax-exempt status
By Stephen Dinan and Seth McLaughlin
-The Washington Times Wednesday, September 18, 2013
Acting director says he is troubled by Lerner
Republicans investigating the IRS targeting scandal said Wednesday that the agency continued to conduct secret surveillance on tea party groups even after approving them for tax-exempt status.
Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel said he shut down the monitoring program after he found out about it, and said he has halted all audits of tax-exempt organizations based on political activity as he tries to get a handle on the embattled agency.
