Reader Asks How can we get the message across that don’t want these papers littering our property and our town?
Over the years I’ve written letters to The Bergen Record/North Jersey Deals on behalf of us and our neighbors who asked me to and the papers will stop for about a month but then they’re back with a vengeance. Phone calls have the same lame effect. How can we get the message across that don’t want these papers littering our property and our town? Any ideas?

Groups Of Adults Turn To Cooperative Households To Save Money
March 26, 2013 11:15 PM
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — With the cost of living on the rise and showing no sign of slowing down, total strangers desperate to save money are moving in together.
As CBS 2’s Dana Tyler reported Tuesday, older adults and even families are using this method to pool their resources. And the new communities are redefining the modern family.
Two million Americans over the age of 30 now live with a housemate or roommate, and shared households make up 18 percent of U.S. households – a 17 percent increase since 2007.

Reader says to save money, quit buying land and taking it off the tax rolls to make soccer fields
If you want to save money, quit buying land and taking it off the tax rolls to make soccer fields. The horse farm, if its worth the $10 million we got hosed for at the time of purchase, equates to about $250,000 per year of taxes no longer coming in.
Citizens park was paid for with donations from long time residents, whose names appear on the placque. It was for a PARK, not a soccer field, with obnoxious loud people blocking up the traffic there, along with the nite lights. Its disgusting how a nice green park became a brown mudfield to accommodate the newbies here.
Ridgewood Public Schools seemed to have prepared him very well for a rigorous university curriculum
I was not a lover of Ridgewood Public Schools until my son (who was just about the 50 percentile at RHS Class of ’12) took the SATs and ACTs and scored extremely well; well enough to get him into some of very competitive engineering schools and liberal arts colleges. Ridgewood is still looked upon very favorably by most universities. His 3.6 RHS GPA went alot further than I thought it would have. Some might say that Ridgewood is relying on its’ old reputation but I do not. I am happy to say that he excelling at his freshman courses (calc 2, physics, writing, etc) at a very good engineering college. Ridgewood Public Schools seemed to have prepared him very well for a rigorous university curriculum.

Electronic Health Records: Doctors Want to Keep Patients Out
The emergence of electronic medical records has left many patients wanting access to their own health information. But a new Accenture survey shows that many doctors don’t think it’s a good idea for patients to see their records.
TUESDAY, March 26, 2013 — According to a new Harris Poll survey, conducted on behalf of the management consulting firm Accenture, less than one-third of U.S. doctors think patients should have full access to their own electronic health records.
As a patient, you may literally trust your doctor with your life, and the doctor-patient relationship relies on this level of trust. The relationship should be one of give and take, even if the exchange is sometimes dominated by the professional.
So it may come as a surprise that 65 percent of docs believe their patients should have only limited access to their electronic health records, and 4 percent believe patients should have no access at all.
Sebelius: Yep, ObamaCare is raising insurance costs
By: John Hayward
3/27/2013 07:46 AM
A watershed moment in the ongoing disaster of ObamaCare, as Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius finally admits that health insurance premiums are rising because of the President’s health insurance takeover, per the Wall Street Journal:
Ms. Sebelius’s remarks come weeks before insurers are expected to begin releasing rates for plans that start on Jan. 1, 2014, when key provisions of the health law kick in. Premiums have been a sensitive subject for the Obama administration, which is counting on elements in the health law designed to increase competition among insurers to keep rates in check. The administration has pointed to subsidies that will be available for many lower-income Americans to help them with the cost of coverage.
The secretary’s remarks are among the first direct statements from federal officials that people who have skimpy health plans right now could face higher premiums for plans that are more generous. She noted that the law requires plans to provide better benefits and treat all customers equally regardless of their medical claims.
“These folks will be moving into a really fully insured product for the first time, and so there may be a higher cost associated with getting into that market,” she said. “But we feel pretty strongly that with subsidies available to a lot of that population that they are really going to see much better benefit for the money that they’re spending.”
Ms. Sebelius added that those customers currently pay more for their health care if their plans have high out-of-pocket costs, high deductibles or exclude particular types of coverage, such as mental health treatment. She also said that some men and younger customers could see their rates increase while women and older customers could see their rates drop because the law restricts insurers’ ability to set rates based on age and gender.
