Teaneck NJ, Bergen County’s food scene is about to get a soulful upgrade! Sweet T’s Southern Eatery, a beloved pork-free soul food restaurant, is opening its newest location in Teaneck this February.

This exciting new venture comes from Dre Perrin, owner of BeSpoke Men’s Grooming—Teaneck’s oldest Black-owned business—and Tonza Houston. Their Montclair flagship location has already won critical acclaim, and now they’re bringing their health-conscious Southern cuisine to Teaneck.

A Healthier Take on Southern Tradition

Soul food is often synonymous with rich flavors and deep-fried indulgence, but Sweet T’s Southern Eatery is redefining the experience. Their menu celebrates Southern culinary traditions with a focus on authentic, pork-free ingredients in a chic and welcoming atmosphere.

The idea was inspired by Perrin’s grandfather, who faced health challenges due to traditional Southern dishes. His vision? A soul food menu that delivers all the comfort and flavor—without the pork.

Partnering with Chef Carlos Swepson, Perrin and Houston have curated a menu that blends classic Southern flavors with healthier, high-quality ingredients. Houston’s Caribbean heritage also plays a role, bringing unique influences to the dishes.

Sweet T’s Menu Favorites

Teaneck diners can expect a mouthwatering selection of soul food classics, including:

🍞 Freshly Baked Cornbread with Signature Strawberry Butter
🍗 Grandma Sarah “Boobie’s” Crispy Chicken
🦐 Classic Shrimp & Grits
🐟 Catfish Meal

Bringing Soul Food to the Mainstream

“Our dream is to bring healthy, authentic soul food to the forefront, making it a popular, mainstream cuisine,” the owners shared in a joint statement.

With New Jersey’s only fully pork-free Southern menu, Sweet T’s Southern Eatery is set to become a must-visit dining spot in Teaneck.
