Just a weeks after a book tour appearance at Bookends in Ridgewood, Portnoy dropped by Best of Everything Deli on East Ridgewood Avenue to sample their signature thin-crust pizza for his long-running One Bite review series.

Despite telling viewers he was “exhausted” from his tour schedule, Portnoy was immediately impressed upon stepping inside the 40-year-old family-owned eatery.

“The sandwiches, everything looks spectacular,” Portnoy noted, praising the full-blown deli vibe and extensive menu options beyond pizza.

When it came to the main event—a thin, cracker-style bar pie—Portnoy drew comparisons to Jersey Shore favorite Pete & Elda’s / Carmen’s Pizzeria in Neptune City.
