BERGEN COUNTY AMERICAN LEGION & AUXILIARY TO HOST NURSES’ SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER; CELEBRATE 70 YEARS OF SERVICE

Lodi NJ,  Continuing a 70-year tradition, the Bergen County American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary are again hosting the annual George F. Axt Memorial Fund dinner to benefit scholarships awarded to nursing school applicants. The event will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Joseph M. Lane American Legion Post 136 in Lodi. Tickets are $15 each and include dinner, coffee and dessert. Dance music will be provided by a DJ. A tricky tray will also be featured.

A life member of The American Legion, George F. Axt belonged to American Legion Post 78 in Englewood and served as Bergen County Commander in 1952. While serving as County Commander, he originated the “Bergen County Legion & Auxiliary Fund” to raise money for nursing school scholarships. Upon his death, the name of the fund was changed to the “George F. Axt Memorial Fund” in his honor.
