Hackensack NJ,  Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco on Friday issued Executive Order 2020-01E to close County parks to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The County enacted these measures in a further effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Executive Order, which is attached to this email, takes effect tomorrow, Saturday, March 28, 2020, at 8 a.m.

“Keeping the parks open has placed a tremendous burden on local law enforcement, the Bergen County Sheriff and other critical resources during this pandemic,” said County Executive Tedesco.  “Local authorities have reported complications, including but not limited to traffic congestion, parking issues and non-compliance with social distancing guidelines, related to park visitation, resulting in the need for closure.”

On Thursday, Tedesco announced the closure of Ramapo Valley County Reservation, Campgaw Mountain Reservation and Darlington County Park to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of Friday, the county has 1505 COVID-19 cases, the highest count of any county in the state.

  2. This move is cruel and vindictive.

  3. Get out and walk on the sidewalk like I do.

  4. Smart move ! People just don’t get how contagious this virus is and how dangerous.
Until it hits home and you know someone who has it !

  5. The first 2 commentors will be showing symptoms by next week.
    Stupid is what stupid does.

  6. I told who would listen many months ago wash your hands. They looked at me like I was crazy. Yes who’s crazy now.

  7. Keep Calm

    HIDE

  8. It’s amazing how many people don’t even take a shower every day.

  9. So all 6 miles of paved paths in Saddle River County Park are now inaccessible, plus acres upon acres of green space. Let’s all pack ourselves onto the sidewalks and road shoulders of Bergen’s towns as we seek fresh air, exercise, dog and baby walks, and try to avoid being close to people inside. Makes a lot of sense to me.

  10. Baby walks…
You can’t make this shit up people.
We know it doesn’t make sense to you because, we’ll, your you. Do as your told before we have DYFS on your ass.

  11. All is a massive over reaction. Its definitely tied in somehow to a political motive by someone or some nutty group pushing some crazy ass agenda.

  12. Got a smoke there Phil?
