BERGEN COUNTY JUVENILE CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF CHILD PORN

Hackensack NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of a Bergen County juvenile on a charge of Possession of Child Pornography, greater than 1,000 files. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

On March 15, 2019, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of a juvenile in connection with an Internet child pornography investigation. The investigation revealed that the juvenile used two different electronic devices to view and possess approximately 1,400 digital files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children as young as approximately three-years-old.

The juvenile was taken into protective custody and charged on March 15, 2019 as a juvenile delinquent with one count of Possession Of Child Pornography in an amount greater than 1,000 files, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(B)5(B)ii, a 2nd degree crime. The juvenile was released into the custody of a guardian and is scheduled for a first appearance in the Chancery Division, Family Court in Hackensack.

Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until adjudicated beyond a reasonable doubt. Acting Prosecutor Calo thanks the Bergen County law enforcement agencies that participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force for their assistance.
