BERGEN PICKLEBALL ZONE IS SET TO OPEN IN MAY IN RAMSEY

Ramsey NJ, the first indoor, pickleball-only courts in Bergen County will  officially open on May 1, 2023. Bergen Pickleball Zone, located within the NJ Sports Academy facility at  50 Spring Street in Ramsey, will be home to four climate-controlled, pickleball courts dedicated  exclusively to the sport. This new venue will include: 

A player/spectator lounge 

A practice/warm-up area 

A pro shop, and more!  

Owners Cheryl and Dale Weingarten will open the first phase on May 1, 2023. This phase will include  both the courts and lounge to meet the demands of the area. “Friends and family have been asking us to provide indoor pickleball courts. With the perfect space and location, we’re duplicating the outdoor  playing experience indoors using the same court surface with LED lighting to play regardless of weather or time of day,” Dale said.

Bergen Pickleball Zone will host beginners to experts, offering clinics, lessons, open play, junior  programs, and events from private parties to corporate team building and community fundraisers. “Our  goal is to create a community-friendly environment where people of all ages and levels can play and  socialize. Bergen Pickleball Zone will offer a facility that meets the needs of experienced to recreational  players.” 

Owners of NJ Home Field Advantage, NJ Sports Academy, and Ramsey Landmark Athletic and Fitness  (LAF), Cheryl and Dale have been providing training from youth to professional athletes, to adult fitness for over 25 years. “Taking up our turf field and installing indoor courts enables us to focus on the entire pickleball community. Our goal is to be inclusive and provide a great venue for everyone,” said Dale, a  former DI collegiate lacrosse player who continues to play on Master level lacrosse teams. A longtime  member of LAF, Sharon Moran, agrees. “LAF has challenging classes, knowledgeable trainers, and  welcoming members. It’s great for people of all ages and abilities,” said Moran. She added, “And now I  can’t wait to learn pickleball! Bergen Pickleball Zone is the right place to get indoor courts going”.  

Longtime friend Cindy Kresch (PPR-certified pickleball instructor, owner of A Hum Music, former  collegiate tennis player, and fitness trainer) and Guy Darienzo (PPR-certified pickleball instructor,  teacher, and former D1 wide receiver, with over 35 years of coaching both high school and collegiate athletes) will be the head instructors.  

Pickleball, a cross between ping pong, tennis, and badminton, is among one of the fastest growing sports in the nation, according to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association. Anyone can play. An easy game to 

learn, pickleball is one of the only sports in which newcomers can actually play from day one. Within  10 minutes, most novices can be proficient enough to play.
