Paramus NJ, no more cash payments—that’s the new policy for property and sewer tax payments in Paramus, NJ. The Borough Council recently approved a resolution eliminating cash transactions, requiring residents to pay through personal checks, bank or certified checks, money orders, or credit cards instead.
Why the Change?
According to Mayor Chris DiPiazza, the move was recommended by both the borough’s chief financial officer and auditor for two key reasons:
✅ Safety Concerns – Handling large amounts of cash could pose a security risk for the borough.
✅ Stronger Financial Oversight – The borough’s annual audit report suggested eliminating cash payments as a way to tighten financial procedures.
