Caught Red-Handed: Ridgewood Police Catch Driver Illegally Dumping at Graydon Pool

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A routine morning took an unexpected turn at a popular local landmark when a driver was caught illegally using a Village-owned dumpster.
On Friday morning, May 22, 2026, a supervisor from the Ridgewood Police Department Detective Bureau was positioned in an unmarked vehicle at the Graydon Pool parking lot. While keeping watch, the supervisor observed a black Chevrolet pickup truck pull into the lot.
The driver exited the vehicle and proceeded to illegally dump solid waste directly into a dumpster owned by the Village of Ridgewood.
Swift Action by Ridgewood Law Enforcement
Recognizing the violation, the Detective Bureau supervisor immediately requested backup. A marked unit from the Patrol Division was dispatched to the scene without delay.
Following the investigation, the supervisor issued an official summons to the driver of the pickup truck. In addition to the legal penalty, the driver was ordered to immediately remove the illegally dumped materials from the municipal dumpster and haul them away.
Community Impact and Safety
Local authorities confirmed that the dumped material was not hazardous in nature, ensuring there was no immediate threat to the environment or community health at Graydon Pool. At this time, there is no word on whether the recipient of the summons will be required to make an appearance in municipal court.
The incident serves as a firm reminder from the Ridgewood Police Department and Ridgewood PBA Local 20 that municipal property and dumpsters are strictly for authorized Village use, and local ordinances against illegal dumping will be actively enforced.

Obviously, someone from the box department was crying, but it’s exactly they can pay someone from the detective bureau to sit in an unmarked car to watch a dumpster at the pool, but yet no one what’s charged with all the toxic soil that was brought to Schettler property, and that cost a village to 1 million to remove it. And no one was fired, give me a break and the village put employees at risk. With handling contaminated material. And still till today, the village never reached out to the employees and sent them for testing, no blood test, no respiratory test, I know a few went to their own doctor on their own. The documented. Just amazing. The top of a village officials should be ashamed of themselves.
