PARK RIDGE, N.J. — The Park Ridge Volunteer Fire Department faced a demanding Friday, responding to five separate calls for service across town ranging from lightning strikes to mechanical equipment failures.
The busy stretch highlighted both the rapid response of local volunteer firefighters and strong mutual aid cooperation across Bergen County.
A Rapid Succession of Calls Across Park Ridge
The series of emergency calls kept crews moving continuously throughout the area:

Pascack Road: Emergency responders first answered a fire alarm activation along Pascack Road.

2nd Street (Lightning Strike): Crews responded to 2nd Street after a lightning strike hit an invisible dog fence, generating a smoke condition inside a residential garage.

Fremont Avenue: Firefighters were dispatched following a report of a direct lightning strike to a house. Upon arrival, officers determined the smoke condition was caused by a malfunctioning AC unit.

Noyes Drive (Elevator Failure): Elevator equipment suffered a mechanical failure, filling the area with smoke. Fire crews remained on the scene to thoroughly ventilate the building’s first floor.
