Call to Make Ridgewood Village Hall Safe for Residents

2016 02 10 20.18.29 scaled e1695507265974

Dear Ridgewood friends and neighbors,

It brings me no pleasure to share this, but it is important to do so.

Back in 2016, I was recording a Village Council meeting with my own camera and tripod and another resident stepped in front of my camera and then assaulted me.

The Mayor and Village Council at that time knew what had occurred, but turned a blind eye and chose not do anything about it. The whole experience was very unsettling for me, so I filed a police report. However, my family and I decided not pursue this further, nor to make this public as we were concerned about our safety, particularly that of our children.

I now see that as a mistake as it happened again.

On September 13th of this year the same individual made menacing remarks to a number of residents present at a Village Council meeting, both from his seat as well as at the podium. As he exited the meeting, he physically assaulted a resident who was sitting in her seat.

This cannot stand and I demand that the Mayor and Village Council act accordingly.

Fortunately, both incidents were caught on video and I have edited them together for you to review. Additionally, police verified that the courtroom surveillance cameras captured the September 13th incident.

Village Hall is the epicenter of our local democracy and we should all feel safe, protected and respected there – regardless of where we stand on the issues. Civility is not something to be treated with selective convenience. If we cannot feel safe in Village Hall, then something is truly wrong with our local government.

According to our police chief, banning an individual from the courtroom falls solely under the jurisdiction of the Village Council. If you feel as I do that this needs to happen, please consider showing up at the next Village Council meeting on Wednesday, September 27th at 7:30pm or reaching out to our Mayor, Village Manager and Village Councilmembers to demand that they act accordingly. Thank you.

  1. what is the name of the individual and what is his agenda

    1. During public comment he introduced himself as Don Delzio from ___Upper Blvd.

      1. What does he do for a living..?

        He’s a shrew.

He must own his own business because the anger management issues would make him unemployable anywhere else.

    2. Cro Magnon man is his name

    3. His agenda is to be a tool and create situations where he intimidates and bullies people. He is a perfect example of an adult who cannot behave appropriately because he is arrogant and gets away with it each time.

  2. Who is this guy?

  3. former rbsa board member

  4. And the band (Village Council) played on without skipping a beat in 2016 and again last week. Despicable to say the least.

  5. Never ever should someone put a hand on someone else like that. Verbal disagreements sure. But not this. And twice from this guy

  6. He looks familiar. A softball daddy perhaps?

The cameraman did however get right in his face….

    Love Boyd dropping an F-bomb!

  7. Maybe stop shoving the camera in the dude’s fave and he won’t push it away? Just a thought.

And don’t give me your crap about being in a public place. Have some decency.

    6
    7
    1. The camera was not in his face until he walked across the room and stood right next to Mr. Glazer.

      4

    2. Shoving is his face? Dana was there all along. Delzio came over and started getting closer and closer in a truly menacing way. It was Delzio Wo had no respect.

  8. Public records indicate that the aggressor donated $500 each to Mr. Weitz and Ms. Winograd in connection with their respective 2022 Village Council election campaigns.

    1. He also donated $500 to Mr. Vagianos in connection with one of two failed bids by Vagianos to win a State Assembly seat in District 40.

  9. The camera was NOT in Delzio face. Dana had been filming the entire time. Delzio came over to Dana and got as close to him as he could. Delzio was agressive for no reason. Do not blame Dana for gods sake.

  10. Delzio is completely unhinged. I was there last week. He was taunting people the whole time

  11. I remember him now. Nasty dude.

  12. He has been one of the leaders for the RBSA ‘s efforts to get a 90’ baseball field at Schedler.

    1
    1
    1. His kids have aged out of the system, why does he care?

Baseball participation is down 35% from 10 years ago.

      3

      1. You have just hit the nail on the head without knowing it. Adults play these games and $$$ is involved.

      2. He is the Tulip man

    2. And he was in charge of Sponsorships for the RBSA. Huge involvement in the Albano council campaign running on support for Schedler 90’ baseball field.

  13. Did this guy donate to Vagianos campaign?

    1. He donated to Paulie’s Assembly campaign and to Siobhan & Evan’s respective Council campaigns.

    2. Yes he did donate to Vag, Weitz and Whino, the majority voting block.

  14. The Mayor shouted at everyone to calm down. Didn’t give a shit what had happened. Didn’t question what was the reason that there was shouting and a scuffle. What a terrible person. As bad as Delzio.

    1. It was late and he probably wanted to make sure Evan Weitz could get home because he is a whining baby about having to stay late at council meetings. That being said, it was horrible not knowing if Delzio was beating someone up, which wouldn’t have been a surprise given his past behavior. He is a nutjob and the council should be ashamed of themselves. All of them plus Attorney and Manager, no one did a thing.

  15. He donated to Vagianos and Weitz and winograd

  16. Re 2016 – maybe the camera was not physically in his face (but if all had to do was reach out to block it, then it had to be within 3 ft), it certainly was pointing primarily at him. The video doesn’t show it, but if he approached you within a few feet, (and the room certainly was not crowded so no need to get so close) then his bad. But I feel the situation was escalated by the pointing the camera at him for prolonged periods of time (but that alone does not justify his action).

    2
    3
    1. The cell phone camera was not pointed at him until he came and got next to Mr. Glazer. Mr. Glazer activated his cell phone camera because he was concerned that the man approached him so closely.

    2. No, you are wrong this guy is a bad actor just like Vagianos, Weitz, Siobahn, all rotten birds with rotten feathers. They deserve eachother. Vag got his people in so he could stack the deck and be a majority vote. This part is not a surprise unless you are living under a rock. Then Vag pays off his friends Richard Brooks and Gail Price to boot to the tune of $47k plus interest. Brooks pushes for the large field with turf and Gail Price’s lawfirm, where she is a partner, is the firm representing the giant billboard that Vagianos can use to advertise his business ventures. Such corruption in such a small village. All of them, including Delzio, should be ashamed of themselves as they are very poor examples of how a mature adult should behave.

    3. Thank goodness that the cell phone camera was pointing at this rude dude. How does anyone protect themselves and their equipment. The fact that this grown man took down someone’s camera and deliberately stood there like a tool, speaks volumes about his character, not Dana Glazers. It is a willful act of destruction, and he did it with boy scouts in the audience. How shameful.

  17. Whoever the idiot is is blaming the victim in 2016, you need to double check yourself. Dana was doing absolutely nothing wrong. Actually, he had been there the whole time filming with a tripod and everything. Delzio was the aggressor. If you can’t see that from the video, Delzio is peering at Dana then you must be Delzio your self that’s making his defensive posts. Dana did nothing wrong. He had every right to protect himself when Delzio was clearly being menacing. Do not blame the victim. That’s like suggesting that the girl in the short skirt deserve to be raped and if only she hadn’t had a short skirt on nothing would’ve happened. You are really despicable. Whoever you are that’s defending Delzio and blaming Dana.

  18. Delzio is a hothead.

    1. And it was all about Schedler and their opposing views

      1. you don’t have to agree with everyone’s position on topics where you have a vested interest, but you don’t assault people multiple times and continue to get away with it.

    2. Delzio is obviously not emotionally intelligent on any level, that much is clear from the times I have seen him at meetings (staring people down, trying to intimidate those he perceives as weaker) along with the other RBSA bullies. What concerns me is that this individual needs a healthy dose of anger management training to just live in this town and is allowed to be around kids at games. As a parent, I in no way would want my kids thinking that this kind of behavior amongst adults is normal. The guy is a kook.

  19. Many years ago, I had his son on the recreational soccer team I was coaching. Probably elementary school. He used to yell when I put the less experienced/talented/etc kids on the field. I explained to him that this was rec and ALL kids on my team would get equal playing time and play different positions. Let’s just say he did not like that and said so in a not so nice way.

    1. Obviously the apple does not fall far from the tree. When you have an entitled hot head parent who exhibits, threatening, alarming, suspicious and concerning behavior and the kids sees this day in and day out, what do you think is going to occur. A much younger version of the bully his father is. Such a pathetic example of what a human should not be.

      3
      1
    2. The father used to yell, not the kid. His son was a nice young man.

I guess my “he” wasn’t clear. Apologies.

  20. Who are the two in the green “Actually I Do Care” shirts?

  21. How about making the schools safe for our kids by not reading gay p0rn books to our kids?

    2

    1. You are a crazy person. Come back to reality.

  22. The Village Manager , Mayor and Council owe it to the public to control the bad actors, even though in this case last week, Vagianos chicken out cause Delzio is his buddy. Once again it shows that Vagianos has a serious vested interest in getting the field for his buddies, but at what cost. He already paid off Brooks and Price, what will be next?

    1. Correct. Vagianos’s daughter pitched for RHS. Nice kid.

Her travel coach was Gipetto. Gipetto ran a summer camp at Vets and used Village resources to make the camp work. He made a lot of $$$ with that camp.

Yes, Pee Wee is the proxy for the baseball dads.

Glen Rock got their turfed fields last year. This nothing but Field envy…

      5
      0
      1. Summer camp is run by Seavers (RBSA Treasurer) daughter.

        1. Gipetto ran the camp in the early 2000s…maybe 2002 thru 2010..?

    2. Delzio gave $500 to Vagianos, Weitz and Winograd, so of course they were not going to do anything. The new Village Manager and Council Attorney should have shut things down.

  23. Arrogant guy for sure. Seems like a guy who is so incredibly miserable with his life choices, that he has to take it out on others. However, this is strike 2 as the say in the great old game of baseball, so 3 strikes and you are out, right? He should be the poster boy for bad behavior, and I would think they should be banning folks from having physical altercations with people. Maybe he can sit in the dugout and think about his bad behavior. Vagianos, you are a disgrace as a mayor, some of your collusion/corruption is out there for all to see and you did nothing to protect residents from Delzio because of financial gain is also appalling.

  24. the village is in the toilet,

  25. He is all talk. Big bark but no bite.

    1. Well he may be all talk and not action but his behavior is threatening to say the least, slapping cameras and cell phones out of people’s hands, both males and females, is horrible. What next? That doesn’t sound like big bark no bite to me. He is a big ego loser and should be ashamed of himself to behave that way in a public setting and on video.

  26. Interesting that he is able to stand erect as most Neanderthal’s don’t.

  27. He should up his medication.

  28. This guy is unhinged. He behaves like a Sopranos soldier. Yet, if is was somebody else w/b@lls in Dana’s place he would have been knocked down in a matter of seconds in self defense. It seems like this j.erk knows how to pick his victims.

  29. If I send Pee Wee an e-mail will he respond ?

    1. Nope. He is too busy trying to expand his empire and he probably doesn’t read his emails so he can then say, I am not aware or he knows nothing (as in the case of the shady consultant).

  30. I have no confidence that Ridgewood will venture away from the obvious sphere of influence to try to protect residents or call the police to help resolve a conflict. Paul is pals with Delzio, so aggressive behavior will always be overlooked and he won’t alert the police even if he is assaulting someone. As mayor, Paul along with Siobahn Winograd, Evan Weitz and Pam Perron (Deputy Mayor) make it pretty clear who they favor and who leverages influence. This then further empowers an already entitled bunch to feel like they can behave however they want. Delzio is at the top of the list, but if you see who he hangs with at meetings, you’ll know who the others are. Last week it was Tony D’Amiano of the Ridgewood Guild and Scott Muller from RBSA.

  31. The next thing to come out of Delzio’s mouth should be a long public apology for the people he has wronged over the years. He is a disgrace, this guy has kids, who are probably so sad that their father can behave so inappropriately. The Mayor, council, Village Attorney and Village Manager should also be apologizing for putting people in harms way. We know most of the council have supported the sports groups, so not expecting a whole lot.

  32. Delzio Will never apologize. He is a nasty hulk. Subhuman.

  33. Paul and Siobahn are constantly stroking the egos of these people who are part of Ridgewood’s sports machine, so what do you expect?

  34. Both videos seem clear enough. What’s stopping the victims from filing criminal complaints with RPD against this loser and using the videos as evidence??? I ain’t no lawyer – what am I missing?

Together with eyewitness testimony, these cases seem pretty straight-forward. Even if complainants lose, a record will be established. As evidenced in the latest event, without consequences this miscreant will only escalate in future.

  35. Classic narcissist. Narcissism, as a psychological trait, is often misunderstood. It’s not just about taking too many selfies or being overly absorbed in your world. Psychologists define it as a deep-seated sense of self-importance, a need for excessive attention and admiration, and a lack of empathy for others.

  36. A guy like this must have many complaints on file. OPRA RWPD for the name Delzio.

  37. Vagianos must be smiling that that this took the spotlight away from his 47k pay off to Brooks and Price. And let’s not forget the 4million payoff to “feed the frontline.”

    1. where did that money go? who profited? I can only imagine what sone folks got!

  38. Delzio is a dirtbag. Everyone involved should press charges. This would teach this guy a lesson and show all of the bullies they cannot get away with this kind of behavior.

  39. I think a full-scale investigation should be opened up to find out what is going on here with any kind of kickbacks/collusion for all of the various projects that are currently going on. Then a full-scale investigation should be done to find out where the money went for Feed the Frontlines. I have heard that it is $4 million. That is a lot of dough, and I am guessing went to “IGTM” and Healthbarn and other hands in pockets. Who got fed, when and where? Prove it once and for all.

  40. It is a good thing that campaign contributions are made public so we can see first hand where there is evidence of possible pay to play and who is aligned with who.

  41. We saw Delzio leave with D’Amiano and they seemed pretty close chatting right after the disturbing incident where they seemed to be laughing.

  42. They were laughing. I was there

  43. D’Amiano should be careful who he associates with. He is the Ridgewood guild representing businesses to try to generate more business downtown after the failed pedestrian plaza, so if he isn’t careful, people could stop shopping local. He doesn’t realize the trickle down affect this could have. Dummy.

  44. Ridgewood has become a laughingstock with characters like Delzio who are protected by the likes of Mayor Paul Vagianos, Evan Weitz and Siobahn Winograd specifically, why because he donated to each of their campaigns so why would they try to get him in trouble for bad behavior. They certainly have a lot to say otherwise but are mum when it comes to their sports pals who cough up the funds they need for special interests in the village.

    https://patch.com/new-jersey/ridgewood/controversy-erupts-next-ridgewood-meeting-wednesday?fbclid=IwAR320pe3cEmm-aqNYqu-tXWFq8p4SzvcpDSaXoIJ7yJrpRXRW6Yay9n16W0

  45. There are a few sports bullies who think they can get away with behaving badly and they protect each other fiercely. It is a mob mentality and It isn’t hard to figure out who they are. It would be nice to see if the mayor and council actually stops this behavior, but they probably won’t because these people are their friends and because this is a huge voting bloc in Ridgewood. Siobahn Winograd said that the assault that happened between Delzio and an innocent resident, “was a low moment for Ridgewood”. You can say that again.

  46. So the person doing the bullying, Delzio, agrees to not come to a VC meeting for 1 month in person and his buddy Paul mentions what a stand up thing this is that he is doing. Are we living in the real world.

  47. Yes, the bully, “Allegedly” is Don Delzio. He is Paul, Evan and Siobahn’s friend and campaign contributor ($500), is the big hero! He knew that he couldn’t be banned and graciously agreed to not attend for 1 month-what 2 meetings? Laughable. Pay to play? Allegedly? If he tries anything the police are only 2 flights down and Paul has a panic button.
