Ridgewood NJ, a summons was issued to the adult driver of a Ford Mustang 5.0 following a late Sunday afternoon, 11/06, crash in which the vehicle, traveling eastbound on East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood, jumped a curb, careened across a sidewalk, and crashed head on into a steel guardrail associated with a bridge over the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook. Neither the driver nor lone passenger was injured in the mishap, but the vehicle and bridge were heavily damaged.

Traffic on eastbound East Ridgewood Avenue was detoured for hours while emergency crews worked at the scene, and westbound traffic was stopped periodically. A flatbed tow truck was able to remove the Mustang from its predicament after Ridgewood firefighters cut a steel guardrail that it had become impaled on. Temporary water-filled safety barriers were deployed to protect pedestrians and vehicle occupants until permanent bridge repairs are made.
