Westwood NJ, on behalf of Chief Michael R. Pontillo and all members of the Westwood Police Department, we would like to offer the following video as a public service announcement. This video, which occurred in Westwood during the middle of the day, illustrates how quickly your vehicle can be stolen.
As such, Westwood Police Department offers the following reminders:
1. Do not leave your vehicle running with keys and key fobs inside of it.
2. Lock all doors and close all windows all the way.
3. Do not leave any valuables in sight inside of your vehicle when parked.
4. Park your vehicle in a secured garage when available.
5. Do not leave your garage door opener inside a vehicle parked outside.
Statistically, there is a car stolen every 41 seconds in the United States. Please take the appropriate actions to ensure that you do not become the next victim. There are sophisticated theft groups targeting high end vehicles to steal all throughout the Tri-State area. Please report any and all suspicious activity to your local police department.
What’s the guy doing on the ground….?
Filling up a gas can
Those stupid fobs are so bulky that people don’t want to carry them around. When all car doors were opened and the ignition turned on by keys, this happened much less.
Fobs are a stupid engineering idea that hopefully will go away. This is a good example but there are many others.
Also an example of stupid, lazy drivers who either leave the fobs in their cars or leave their cars running.
I laugh when these idiots get their cars stolen.
We need bigger punishments for these morons stealing our stuff. Dumb dumb boy blaming victim won’t be such a clown when he gets his sh*t taken.
