Ridgewood NJ, Locally Bergen County Republicans were united in OPPOSITION to the new 23 cent a gallon gasoline tax hike (plus annual increases). But Bergen’s Democrats SUPPORTED the TAX HIKE just as unanimously!

And the only way to stop similar ripoffs here in Bergen County is to support the Republican Taxpayer Watchdogs: DeNicola, Driscoll and DiDio for Freeholder, Alfonso for Sheriff, Olmo for Clerk and Avery for Surrogate.

David Stockman warns both Trump and Clinton could lead to 25% sell-off

David Stockman, the man widely credited as the “Father of Reaganomics”, delivered an alarming message to investors.

Sell everything!

“The markets are hideously inflated,” warned Stockman on CNBC’s “Fast Money” this week. The former Director of the Office of Management and Budget under President Ronald Reagan urged investors to dump stocks and bonds ahead of the dangers that bothDonald Trump and Hillary Clinton pose to markets if either is elected as President.

“If you don’t sell before the election, certainly do it afterwards. Government is going to be totally paralyzed regardless of who wins,” he said. “There could be a 25 percent draw down on markets.”

Stockman posits that, under a Clinton administration, official investigations and new hacked email disclosures from Wikileaks will be non-stop. Furthermore, he reasoned that the “house will become a killing field” for anything Clinton is trying to do. Ultimately, Stockman said the Democrat would enter the Oval Office bruised, bloody and all but lacking in legitimacy.

Vote NO on all the Ballot Questions

Vote NO

November 6,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, the staff of the Ridgewood blog recommends voting NO on all ballot questions.

Question #1 (Expansion of Casino Gaming) Question #1 deals with the expansion of casino gaming to northern New Jersey. CIANJ testified in support of the measure as it made its way through the legislative process. We believe any initiative that invites new investment and the creation of new private sector jobs is good for New Jersey’s economy. Casino gaming also subsidizes other New Jersey industries, such as the horse racing industry, providing nearly 7,000 jobs – including veterinarians, farmers, horse trainers, race track employees, etc.- to New Jersey residents. To view background information and the question see here.

Say NO , This is just a joke , think Xanadu the failed Meadowlands mall and Atlantic City’s bankruptcy.

Question #2 (Dedication of Motor Fuels Taxes) Question #2 asks voters to approve an amendment to our constitution which would dedicate all revenues collected from the gas tax to transportation-related projects. As of November 1, the NJ tax on gasoline is 37.5 cents/gallon (44 cents/gallon for diesel). Should the question pass, the money collected could not be used for other purposes like balancing the state budget. The CIANJ agrees with this dedication and supports approval of the question. To view background information and the question see here.

Best to say NO on this one , the key words are “amendment to our constitution” , amending the state constitution is a euphemism for a constitutional requirement to raise your taxes every year . Think Abbott school districts, a huge  percentage of your property taxes goes to funding failing urban schools .Great for the NJEA not so good for you or the kids.

RESOLVED, That there shall be raised an additional $929,800 for General Funds in the 2016-17 School Year. These taxes will be used to employ additional personnel and to acquire additional equipment and supplies in order to implement the District’s full-day Kindergarten program. Approval of these taxes will result in a permanent increase in the District’s tax levy. The additional taxes authorized herein will be used exclusively for purposes described herein and to finance expenditures that are in addition to those necessary to achieve the Core Curriculum Content Standards.

Just say NO ,sorry folks this makes no sense in Ridgewood , sure it’s great for parents easier schedule and teachers more hires , but no tangible upside for the kids . But you say it’s only $111 bucks per household precisely how we got to a $102 million dollar school budget ,just a couple of bucks at a time.

No, Black Lives Don’t Matter to Bill and Hillary Clinton — Especially Haitian Ones

Haitian earthquake

by JEROME HUDSON27 Jul 2016508

Despite what the Mothers of the Movement believe, black lives don’t matter to Bill and Hillary Clinton. Just ask the Haitians who’ve spent years trashing the Clinton’s for screwing them over and turning the tragic earthquake that rocked the tiny Caribbean country in 2010 into a lucrative venture for their closest allies.

Indeed, in the wake of the earthquake in Haiti — while 316,000 lifeless bodies lay buried under rubble, and while 300,000 Haitians suffered from injuries, with another 1.3 million displaced — Hillary Clinton’s family and monied cronies cashed in on the back of the tragedy-stricken Caribbean country.

The Billionaire Whose Clinton Foundation Ties Could Be Trouble for Hillary Clinton

Frank Giustra

Frank Giustra is the latest plutocrat to fall under the ex-president’s spell.

Like countless people before him, Frank Giustra’s first meeting with Bill Clinton was a life-altering event indelibly etched in his memory. “We hit it off right away,” Giustra recalls. “We hit it off for a whole number of reasons. We had a very similar upbringing. We had similar interests in books. Pretty soon, we were having a great conversation. I think he liked me.”

Giustra was experiencing the famous Clinton connection, the tractor beam of personal magnetism that Clinton has deployed to pull people into his orbit since his earliest days in Arkansas. Back then, they were people like Mack McLarty, the well-to-do kindergarten classmate who became Clinton’s first White House chief of staff, and Jim McDougal, the local banker and real estate investor who was the Clintons’ partner in the Whitewater land deal and eventually wound up in jail. In Arkansas the stakes were comparatively small. Clinton had little money, and his admirers didn’t have a whole lot more. Today, in his post-presidency, Clinton has built up a multibillion-dollar family foundation with a global reach. He may soon be back in the White House. The people he solicits are the sort who gravitate to Davos, not Little Rock—people like Frank Giustra.

Tax Foundation : What to Know Before You Vote on Tuesday

Clinton vs

November 4,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, In 4 days, millions of Americans will go to the polls to decided everything from local ballot questions to the next President of the United States.

This year has been a busy one for tax policy. Throughout this year’s election, every major presidential candidate put forth a comprehensive tax plan (in some cases more than one), and at the state and local level, a number of tax policy proposals have made it on to ballots, some of which would be momentous if passed.

All of this can be difficult to keep track of and even harder to understand. The Tax Foundation has worked hard over the past year to provide Ridgewood blog readers and the media with the most accurate, timely, and accessible information possible on the tax policies being proposed.

To that end, here are 3 resources that we hope you and other taxpayers will find useful before entering the voting booth next week:

  1. Our guide to the top state and local tax ballot initiatives to watch in 2016
  2. An at-a-glance comparison of of how the Clinton and Trump tax plans would affect the U.S. economy
  3. An interactive tax calculator that shows how the Clinton and Trump tax plans would impact your wallet

Doherty is ‘NO’ on Public Question #2 on Gas Tax Dedication

Senator Mike Doherty

Says Failure of Ballot Measure May Prevent Billions of Borrowing, Force Leaders to Address Out-of-Control Spending

Senator Mike Doherty (R-23) has announced his opposition to Public Question #2, a ballot measure before voters this year to amend the New Jersey Constitution to dedicate state gas tax revenues to the Transportation Trust Fund (TTF).

public question2 520

Sen. Mike Doherty opposes the passage of Public Question #2, saying the failure of the measure may prevent billions of new borrowing and force leaders to address out-of-control transportation spending. (SenateNJ.com)

“I believe the passage of Public Question #2 would give the state the green light to add $12 billion in new debt,” said Doherty. “Our state is in the fiscal hole it’s in because we keep borrowing for things we can’t afford, when we really should be tightening our belts.”

Doherty said the failure of Public Question #2 would put the state’s ability to issue that planned debt in jeopardy.

“The failure of Public Question #2 would send the Governor and legislative leaders the message that New Jerseyans want them to address the out-of-control cost of our transportation projects, as I’ve long advocated,” added Doherty. “If we don’t address spending, we’re just wasting billions and counting down the days until someone in Trenton calls for the next gas tax increase.”

He highlighted language in A-10, the legislation enacted to reauthorize the TTF, which directly links the state’s authority to borrow to the passage of the ballot measure.

Specifically: “Commencing on the day that Assembly Concurrent Resolution No.1 of 2015, a constitutional amendment to Article VIII, section II, paragraph 4 of the New Jersey Constitution, takes effect, and ending June 30, 2024, the authority shall not issue transportation program bonds in excess of $12,000,000,000.”

Assembly Concurrent Resolution No.1 (ACR-1) was the legislation to amend the constitution which appears on the ballot as Public Question #2.

“There’s much dispute about what will happen if Public Question #2 fails, but we know for sure what happens if it passes — $12 billion in new debt,” said Doherty. “That’s enough for me to vote ‘NO.’”

Doherty is the sponsor of legislation to repeal the gas tax (S-2717) and reduce New Jersey’s highest-in-the-nation road costs (S-1888).

An online petition he maintains with Senator Kip Bateman (R-16) to repeal the recently imposed 23 cent per gallon gas tax increase can be signed athttps://www.senatenj.com/gastaxrepeal/.

The petition has already been signed more than 18,000 times.

Report: Indictment ‘likely’ in FBI’s Clinton Foundation probe

hillary-clinton-what-difference-does-it-make

By Nikita Vladimirov

Two sources within the FBI told Fox News on Wednesday that the investigation of the Clinton Foundation is likely to lead to an indictment.

Fox News’s Bret Baier said Wednesday that the FBI probe into a possible pay-to-play scheme between Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation has been going on for over a year.

Sources told the news network that the investigation, which is conducted by the White Collar Crime division of the FBI, is a “very high priority.”

One source further stated that the bureau collected “a lot of” evidence, adding that “there is an avalanche of new information coming every day.”

Baier also said that the Clinton Foundation probe is more expansive than previously thought, and that many individuals have been interviewed several times throughout the course of the investigation.

Will N.J. voter anger over gas tax hike sink transportation ballot question?

Vote NO

By Samantha Marcus | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

TRENTON — Now that New Jersey’s new 23-cent gas tax increase is on the books, a ballot question asking voters to dedicate the billions of dollars in new revenue to transportation projects is suddenly getting lots of attention.

The once-virtually uncontested question that passed the Legislature with just one “no” vote has become a flashpoint in the fight over the new tax, which hit gas stations Tuesday.

Now supporters of the ballot question are worried voters angry over the higher gas tax will reject the measure.

HEALTHCARE REFORM TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN

-donald-trump-candidacy-speech-thridgewoodblog

Since March of 2010, the American people have had to suffer under the incredible economic burden of the Affordable Care Act—Obamacare. This legislation, passed by totally partisan votes in the House and Senate and signed into law by the most divisive and partisan President in American history, has tragically but predictably resulted in runaway costs, websites that don’t work, greater rationing of care, higher premiums, less competition and fewer choices. Obamacare has raised the economic uncertainty of every single person residing in this country. As it appears Obamacare is certain to collapse of its own weight, the damage done by the Democrats and President Obama, and abetted by the Supreme Court, will be difficult to repair unless the next President and a Republican congress lead the effort to bring much-needed free market reforms to the healthcare industry.

But none of these positive reforms can be accomplished without Obamacare repeal. On day one of the Trump Administration, we will ask Congress to immediately deliver a full repeal of Obamacare.

However, it is not enough to simply repeal this terrible legislation. We will work with Congress to make sure we have a series of reforms ready for implementation that follow free market principles and that will restore economic freedom and certainty to everyone in this country. By following free market principles and working together to create sound public policy that will broaden healthcare access, make healthcare more affordable and improve the quality of the care available to all Americans.

Any reform effort must begin with Congress. Since Obamacare became law, conservative Republicans have been offering reforms that can be delivered individually or as part of more comprehensive reform efforts. In the remaining sections of this policy paper, several reforms will be offered that should be considered by Congress so that on the first day of the Trump Administration, we can start the process of restoring faith in government and economic liberty to the people.

Congress must act. Our elected representatives in the House and Senate must:

Completely repeal Obamacare. Our elected representatives must eliminate the individual mandate. No person should be required to buy insurance unless he or she wants to.
Modify existing law that inhibits the sale of health insurance across state lines. As long as the plan purchased complies with state requirements, any vendor ought to be able to offer insurance in any state. By allowing full competition in this market, insurance costs will go down and consumer satisfaction will go up.
Allow individuals to fully deduct health insurance premium payments from their tax returns under the current tax system. Businesses are allowed to take these deductions so why wouldn’t Congress allow individuals the same exemptions? As we allow the free market to provide insurance coverage opportunities to companies and individuals, we must also make sure that no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance. We must review basic options for Medicaid and work with states to ensure that those who want healthcare coverage can have it.
Allow individuals to use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Contributions into HSAs should be tax-free and should be allowed to accumulate. These accounts would become part of the estate of the individual and could be passed on to heirs without fear of any death penalty. These plans should be particularly attractive to young people who are healthy and can afford high-deductible insurance plans. These funds can be used by any member of a family without penalty. The flexibility and security provided by HSAs will be of great benefit to all who participate.
Require price transparency from all healthcare providers, especially doctors and healthcare organizations like clinics and hospitals. Individuals should be able to shop to find the best prices for procedures, exams or any other medical-related procedure.
Block-grant Medicaid to the states. Nearly every state already offers benefits beyond what is required in the current Medicaid structure. The state governments know their people best and can manage the administration of Medicaid far better without federal overhead. States will have the incentives to seek out and eliminate fraud, waste and abuse to preserve our precious resources.
Remove barriers to entry into free markets for drug providers that offer safe, reliable and cheaper products. Congress will need the courage to step away from the special interests and do what is right for America. Though the pharmaceutical industry is in the private sector, drug companies provide a public service. Allowing consumers access to imported, safe and dependable drugs from overseas will bring more options to consumers.

The reforms outlined above will lower healthcare costs for all Americans. They are simply a place to start. There are other reforms that might be considered if they serve to lower costs, remove uncertainty and provide financial security for all Americans. And we must also take actions in other policy areas to lower healthcare costs and burdens. Enforcing immigration laws, eliminating fraud and waste and energizing our economy will relieve the economic pressures felt by every American. It is the moral responsibility of a nation’s government to do what is best for the people and what is in the interest of securing the future of the nation.

Providing healthcare to illegal immigrants costs us some $11 billion annually. If we were to simply enforce the current immigration laws and restrict the unbridled granting of visas to this country, we could relieve healthcare cost pressures on state and local governments.

To reduce the number of individuals needing access to programs like Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program we will need to install programs that grow the economy and bring capital and jobs back to America. The best social program has always been a job – and taking care of our economy will go a long way towards reducing our dependence on public health programs.

Finally, we need to reform our mental health programs and institutions in this country. Families, without the ability to get the information needed to help those who are ailing, are too often not given the tools to help their loved ones. There are promising reforms being developed in Congress that should receive bi-partisan support.

To reform healthcare in America, we need a President who has the leadership skills, will and courage to engage the American people and convince Congress to do what is best for the country. These straightforward reforms, along with many others I have proposed throughout my campaign, will ensure that together we will Make America Great Again.

Vote NO on Question #2 on Election Day

Sweeney & Prieto

November 2,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Vote NO on Question #2 on Election Day. By doing so, WE THE PEOPLE can push back the gas tax increase.

“New Jersey voters have a chance to force Trenton lawmakers to go back to the drawing board on Election Day by opposing a ballot referendum question that would allow New Jersey to amend its constitution to dedicate the revenue from the gas tax to fund the Transportation Trust Fund.”

The Ballot referendum question would allow New Jersey to amend its constitution to dedicate the revenue , that’s a euphemism a constitutional amendment to automatically raise your taxes every year!

Voting no on the measure would force lawmakers back to the bargaining table, according to Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, who spoke recently on NJ101.5’s Bill Spedia radio show.

“A vote for number two is a vote for the gas tax,” Guadagno said. ‘If you like the gas tax, then you’re going to like number two.'”
