Reader asks,”do leaves fall on schedule?”

fallleaves artchick.biz

“More good advice here than you think if we get past some complaining. Have lived here since 1964 but work in a town where they charge. Other town also rarely on time. Think about it guys… are people who pick up leaves (govt ees or contractors) as responsible as most of us have to be in our jobs? And with us hiding limbs, etc under the leaves might, maybe their job take longer than expected in any case? And do leaves fall on schedule?

Put the leaves out per schedule. Take a picture with date to prove it. They are on time, or not. If not they will be by in a few days. Chill.

I had one issue, where construction blocked our street by chance on same date as they came to pick up. So no pickup. And everyone on street got tickets three days later for ignoring schedule. Asked neighbors when they put theirs out (all within schedule), sent list of people with dated picture to Village. Told to come down to discuss. All tickets waived for block. But if I didn’t have the dates picture…

Ask you this question tho. If they stopped picking up leaves for “free” do you really think they would correspondingly lower our taxes? Nope. So follow the schedule, be able to prove it, relax and be happy with what we have.”

Ridgewood NJ, sources report that there is  a large rat infestation along train tracks and by old taxi station. The rats of the four legged variety have made a home for themselves at the Ridgewood Train Station.

NJ Transit  has been treating the problem  but  there are a lot of rat tunnels and from time to time you see them running around especially during the  morning commute .

Ridgewood’s Further Adventures in Library Planing and Construction

but what about the books ?

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, resident Steve Kim turned up some interesting information thru a series of OPRA requests on the Alan Gray’s open public sessions as well as focus groups and individual interviews with community stakeholders going back to 2012 on the needs and wants for the Ridgewood Public Library .

Kim’s OPRA requests seem to point to a predetermined design , based not on the unique character of Ridgewood but of a standard favored by Liberian’s nation wide.

As previously reported critics have been assailed by various ‘Library Trustees”, who claim the architects have build hundreds of library’s and “know best” . Really ,how many have you built for Ridgewood and how many books do you read?

Ridgewood NJ, The New Jersey Choral Society is unique among the many choral groups in NJ and we pride ourselves on promoting our younger singers. One such member is Wen Wen Vanderwende, now a first year student at the University of Hartford in Connecticut. This past spring, she won the Harmonium Composition Contest for 2019 with her piece entitled “Hymn to Venus.” She said that this past season’s study of 20th century music with Song of the Angels and Poulenc’s Stabat Mater influenced hercomposition.

Listen to Wen Wen’s award winning composition, performed by the Harmonium Choral Society, here:

Reader says ,”look both ways before entering a crosswalk”

335594690

“The village of Ridgewood should take action immediately and make temporary signs add all crosswalks in the CBD, and around schools to look both ways before entering a crosswalk. Use common sense. But this is the problem , The school system doesn’t teach common sense. And most parents don’t either. “

Promoter of High Density Housing Complains Village is Being Ruined?

Ridgewood 3 amigos

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

“An open letter to the Village Council re the news that the Gap is closing:

Anne Taylor gone. Jos. Banks, gone. Now the Gap closing. Empty storefronts. Potholed Streets. Vanity and wasteful projects that don’t seem to end. Indirect taxes on the rise. A parking situation that is a joke. On, and on, and on….

When will you have the decency and intellectual honesty to admit the damage you are causing to our beloved town?

Rurik Halaby”

Ridgewood NJ, just a reminder Mr. Halaby was a huge supporter of the Aronsohn administration and its sell out to developers , ringing the central business district with high density housing . The high density housing and the impending increase in residents , traffic and parking will lead to a need for an increase in public safety personnel, road construction, parking, water  , sewage and school construction . That means the consequence of allowing over development will be that taxes will continue to spiral upwards driving more people from the Village and your property values will continue to be depressed .

Mr Halaby was also part of the group that wanted to clear cut Schedler Park and build a turf baseball field .

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Emergency Services Volunteers were well prepared for the 44th Annual Ridgewood Memorial Day Run Activities.  “The culmination of all the hours planning that is involved for activities rests with the weather”,stated Acting Chief Ryan Savaria. “If the weather cooperates with near perfect running conditions, our job is much easier on Run Day” added Savaria. As you ran the route, Emergency Services Volunteers and their equipment were stationed strategically to quick response. At the finish line, there was a huge cadre of responders in their safety vests awaiting the runners. A fully staffed Treatment Tent was established and staffed with the volunteer EMTs and Paramedics.  Thanks to all the Ridgewood Volunteers for being well prepared.
