Freeholder candidates

the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, Freeholder and Assembly races heat up while the Republican team is out listening to the public the Democrat Majority is  out name calling.

FACT : In the last 13 years taxes have been raised 115 times by nj state legislators. Yet career politicians like Tim Eustace and Joe Lagana believe that they are doing a good job. Are you kidding me? On November 3rd it’s time to make a change. The old way just doesn’t work. Lets get rid of these two career politicians and bring an outsider in to hold the democratic led Assembly accountable and improve transparency. On November 3rd elect Mark DiPisa for Assembly along with your Bergen County Freeholder candidates John Mitchell Daisy Ortiz Berger and Ken Tyburczy along with the rest of Column one. They will work to reduce taxes bring jobs back to New Jersey and eliminate wasteful spending.

How do you learn what would be best to spur business growth and create good paying private sector jobs in Bergen County?…

…You meet with business people that are in the trenches. My Freeholder running mates and I took advantage of this opportunity at an event set up by my buddy and fellow Rotarian, Matt Libien. Thanks so much Matt! — with Norma Wellington, Del McLennonand Sabra Waxman at Solaia Restaurant.

Desperate Bergen Dems Go for What they Hope is Coup De Grace with Tea Party Tag in Freeholder Race

Is this childish rhetoric from the author of this piece of drivel or from these excuses of public servants themselves ? Threatening political violence on groups of patriotic senior Americans by a failed economically socially and morally corrupt political party is way beyond the pale in any election cycle. Paul A. Everyone who is paying attention knows that the Dems control the Freeholder Board 5-2 ,so how is it possible that the Repubs are responsible for these terrible situations portrayed in this contrived Political piece? John Criscione

Oradell NJ,  Oradell and Paramus Fire Department and Rescue Squad personnel worked side-by-side using the “Jaws of Life” to extricate a driver and three (3) dogs from a wrecked 4-door BMW sedan that had collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Forest and Oradell Avenues in Oradell late (11:15 PM) Friday (10/16) night.

The BMW’s driver was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital; the occupants of the pickup truck were uninjured. All of the dogs in the BMW escaped injury. They were taken to a shelter in Midland Park operated by Tyco Animal Control Services. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Oradell PD is investigating the crash, which, surprisingly, did not result in a full closure of the Forest Avenue/Oradell Avenue intersection.

Cappola, Bernie, and the double-standard of stupid utterances

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

It’s been a weird year for politics, Save Jerseyans. But as much as some things change, others things definitely do not. At all.

Let’s reflect briefly on the respective trajectories of two politicians: Bernie Sanders and Anthony Cappola.

Bernie is leading the Democrat field in New Hampshire and threatening Hillary Clinton in the other early states. The Left is fawning over him and treating the badly-worn and awkward New England socialist as some species sage for having regurgitated decades-old discredited ideas. “Incredibly charming” is just one of the many descriptions you’ll find on the liberal net.

Cappola (left) and Sanders (right)

Less charming? His 1972 essay for theVermont Freeman on the subject of gang rape fantasies. “A man goes home and masturbates his typical fantasy. A woman on her knees, a woman tied up, a woman abused,” Sanders opined. “A woman enjoys intercourse with her man — as she fantasizes being raped by 3 men simultaneously.”

Yikes! Yet Democrat reactions have ranged from total disinterest to verbal shrugs.

At least New Jersey Assembly candidate Cappola was trying to be funny in his online published book Outrageous, a tome chock full of allegedly racist, misogynistic, homophobic, and objectively strange “satire.” But his youthful incident of presumably isolated idiocy ended in a resignation from the LD38 ticket reportedly at the prompting of GOP officials, not a liberal blogger story complimenting his “charming” novel, and the collapse of what should’ve been the GOP’s top 2015 target based on the 2013 results has reopened Republican wounded inside and outside of Bergen County.

Financial industry not abandoning Garrett

Scott_Garrett_theridgewoodblog

By Jonathan D. Salant | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

WASHINGTON — If U.S. Rep. Scott Garrett faced a backlash from his comments earlier this yearabout not supporting gay candidates, it didn’t come from the financial industry.

Political action committees representing banks, insurers, investors and other industries regulated by the House Financial Services Committee accounted for more than $8 of every $10 in PAC money Garrett raised during the last three months, Federal Election Commission filings show.

Garrett (R-5th Dist.) raised $63,500 in PAC money from July 1 to Sept. 30, with $52,000, or 82 percent, coming from the financial industry. Overall, he took in $179,486 during the three-month period, bringing his 2015 total to $574,164.

That trailed his expected Democratic opponent, former White House speechwriter Josh Gottheimer, who brought in more than $1 million, including $400,232 in the last three months.

GLEN ROCK — A long-awaited report by a former judge that called the state of the borough Police Department “good to excellent” — despite several recent high-profile suspensions — came under fire from residents on Wednesday night, even though elements of the probe were referred to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

Commissioned by the Borough Council in May, the report was done by retired state Superior Court Judge Alexander H. Carver III and was intended to “take the pulse” of the department.

Also, Carver was to provide an explanation of how disciplinary charges came to be brought against Sgt. Christopher McInerney and Bryan Scott for the deletion of photographs from a 2005 retirement party.

THE RECORD

The candidates for Bergen County Freeholder sparred on taxes and the costs of a new Public Works facility in Paramus on Thursday in their first debate of this year’s campaign.

But they found agreement, for the most part, on the need to do more about an epidemic of heroin addiction.

The Republicans and one Libertarian candidate argued that the county needs to do more to cut spending.

GOP candidate Ken Tyburczy contended that more Republicans were needed on the Board of Freeholders to question spending by the Democratic-controlled county administration.

“We do need a check and balance,” Tyburczy said. “If there’s not a check, how can we possibly control the spending?”

Democratic Freeholder Steve Tanelli noted that in 2014, the Democratic-controlled board passed a budget that had no tax increase.

Tanelli also noted that this year’s budget — which included a 4.3 percent tax increase — won unanimous bipartisan approval from the board.

Anthony Cappola: ‘I Deserve to Be on this Ballot’

dipisacappolald38

Quote of the Day: “I was asked to step down by the state Republicans and I did it because I am a team player. But, I did not want to do that, I wanted to fight. I stepped down and I thought it would just be over, but it is not over.” – Anthony Cappola

Anthony Cappola: ‘I Deserve to Be on this Ballot’

The last two weeks have been turbulent for Anthony Cappola. He was one of LD38’s Republican candidates, he was forced to step down from his position on the River Edge Council, made to drop out of the assembly race and told he would be replaced on the ballot with Fernando Alonso. Then, on Wednesday, he learned that the Bergen County Republican Organization dropped their petition to remove him from the ballot due to financial constraints. Now, he is trying to resuscitate his candidacy in a district that had initially been considered one of the most competitive in the state. Alyana Alfaro, PolitickerNJ Read more

Campaign finance reports released Tuesday show that two incumbent Democratic Assemblymen have raised 11 times as much as their Republican challengers in the state’s 38th District, traditionally one of the more competitive districts in New Jersey.

Democratic Assemblymen Tim Eustace and Joseph Lagana have raised $699,620 to date compared to $62,088 for Republicans Mark DiPisa and Anthony Cappola, according to reports filed with the state Election Law Enforcement Commission.

Those reports show Cappola had raised $10,466 before dropping out of the race because of controversy over “Outrageous”, a book he self-published in 2003 that DiPisa called “offensive garbage” because of its negative depiction of blacks, Muslims, gays, seniors and other groups.

Top 10 Reason to Vote for John Mitchell, Daisy Ortiz Berger and Ken Tyburczy for Bergen County Freeholder

Freeholders

October 13,2015
by Patrick Basel

Top 10 reasons Tracy Zur Tom Sullivan and Steve Tannelli should be voted OUT of office and Bergen County residents should vote for all of column one including John Mitchell ,Daisy Ortiz Berger and Ken Tyburczy for Bergen County Freeholder.

10. The democrats raised your taxes 4.3% this year.
9. The democrats wanted to tax school districts for use of County parks.
8. The democrats are wasting a million dollars on an ice skating rink when other issues are much more pressing.
7. Bergen Regional is understaffed and workers are being attacked the democrats solution is to add more members to committee of cronies to do nothing but talk about problems.
6. The democrats say they are for a minimum wage of 15.00 an hour but don’t even offer that to campaign workers.
5.The democrats refuse to take action on Bergen County prosecutor Mollinelli despite lawsuits mounting and questions about lost evidence.
4. The democrats refused to let a victim of a sexual crime be heard at a public freeholder meeting because the doctor accused of the crime gave a 500000 donation to their former boss.
3.Over 10000 jobs left the state this summer.
2. Sullivan is an appointed yes man. He has never been elected and will vote whatever way Tedesco wants. Tedesco has taxed people as a Freeholder Mayor and County executive and will continue to do so if you allow his politically appointed yes man to stay in office.
1. John Mitchell has a proven track record both balancing your budget without a tax increase as well as working in a two party system as chairman of finance. He also worked on behalf of the disabled community which I am a member of as well as for seniors and veterans. He doesn’t make empty promises he delivers solid solutions. On November 3rd bring John Mitchell back with the rest of Column one. They will restore honor and integrity back while putting the voters interests before the special interests.

Bergen Democrats Angry at John Mitchell for not helping them Continue to fleece taxpayers

“I truly wish that the Bergen Dems came up with an innovative bag of tricks rather than pulling out the same old, tired ones that they use time and again. Here’s the real deal. Zur is in trouble, so they’re attempting to muddy up John. It is imperative that we (all) stand firmly behind John Mitchell and help him return to the Bergen County Freeholder Board. I will be voting for him on November 3rd.” Dierdre Paul

Bergen Dems Claim GOP Freeholder Candidate ‘Turned Back on Taxpayers’

By Alyana Alfaro | 10/09/15 4:34pm

A statement released by Bergen County democratic freeholders Tracy Zur, Steve Tanelli and Tom Sullivan alleges that former freeholder and current Republican candidate John Mitchell “turned his back on taxpayers” when he was serving on the Board of Chosen Freeholders.

The group claims that Mitchell “did not want to get involved” in an April 2012 action by then County Executive Kathleen Donovan to cut benefits and pensions from part-time commissioners of the Northwest Bergen County Utilities Authority.

The Democrats’ statement alleges that “Mitchell’s unwillingness to take action set off a costly legal process that began with Donovan’s firing of commissioners two weeks later.” It also claims that “it is difficult to imagine that John Mitchell would have experienced such reluctance had he not been trying to protect some of his political buddies.
