The good news. “Among 101 urban areas, the congestion level was 11% in 2020, a 62% drop from the 28% rate of 2019.” (A 28% score means the trip takes 28% longer than it would with no traffic.) This was the lowest congestion rate in at least 39 years.

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT supports and encourages the use of personal vehicles, such as bicycles, e-bikes, e-scooters, Segways, and hoverboards, by providing accommodations for customers using personal vehicles to the greatest extent possible.There is no extra charge for bringing personal vehicles aboard NJ TRANSIT vehicles, access is allowed from all station platforms, and permits are not required.
For passengers’ safety, riding or charging personal vehicles inside NJ TRANSIT facilities or on board NJ TRANSIT vehicles is strictly prohibited. Gasoline-powered personal vehicles, such as mopeds, are also prohibited on NJ TRANSIT vehicles.

With a simple tap on their mobile device, customers can see the location of the next bus or train along with the estimated arrival time to their location. The mobile app update also provides enhanced integration with NJT Rewards, the program where customers can earn points for deals and discounts.

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT continues to aggressively advance its zero-emissions bus program with the release of its roadmap to a 100% zero-emission bus fleet, at today’s Board of Directors Energy & Sustainability committee meeting. The roadmap is highlighted by several key efforts in recent weeks including the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) from qualified consulting firms for the Bus Garage Modernization Program and the application submitted for federal funding to acquire additional battery electric buses to be used in the Newark region. NJ TRANSIT also remains on track for the launch of the deployment of eight electric buses in Camden by the end of this year.

Corbett, and state and local officials today celebrated the groundbreaking for construction of a new, ADA-accessible train station in Lyndhurst. The new facility, thanks to $30.9 Million provided by the state’s partners at the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), replaces a station more than a century old and will be located at the intersection of Delafield Avenue and Court avenues, a more convenient location closer to the commuter parking lot.

Newark NJ, on Friday an urgent rescue mission unfolded for an injured canine. New Jersey Transit Police officers responded to reports that a dog got onto the Newark Light Rail tracks at Park Ave and was struck and pinned under the light rail vehicle. Responding Patrol, K9, and ESU officers found an injured dog under the train. Together, the officers took great care to remove the cold and injured dog without further trauma. They stabilized the dog and rushed it to an appropriately suited K9 vehicle for its transport to further care. Now this pup has promising potential for a full recovery and a good reminder to keep off the tracks.
