The officers apprehended a subject who allegedly struck a conductor in the face with a closed fist. This subject now faces multiple charges including Aggravated Assault, Hindering, and Theft of Service.
Secaucus NJ, on Tuesday, 3/16/21, New Jersey Transit Police Officers Dioguardi, Romano, and Lieutenant Sperlazza were on patrol at Secaucus Junction Station. The officers responded to a report of a male child traveling alone on train 1122. They found that the child, who is autistic, would not communicate with the train crew.

Newark NJ, on Friday an urgent rescue mission unfolded for an injured canine. New Jersey Transit Police officers responded to reports that a dog got onto the Newark Light Rail tracks at Park Ave and was struck and pinned under the light rail vehicle. Responding Patrol, K9, and ESU officers found an injured dog under the train. Together, the officers took great care to remove the cold and injured dog without further trauma. They stabilized the dog and rushed it to an appropriately suited K9 vehicle for its transport to further care. Now this pup has promising potential for a full recovery and a good reminder to keep off the tracks.

New York NY, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today unveiled a new plan for the proposed Midtown Bus Terminal project which will completely reimagine the world’s busiest bus terminal and its connection to the Lincoln Tunnel. The new plan laid out in the Port Authority’s final scoping document released today provides for a nearly 40 percent increase in transit rider capacity while responding to the needs of the local community. The new terminal will be designed to serve 100 percent electric bus fleets and will feature cutting-edge technology to manage and speed bus movements in the terminal – using both autonomous vehicle technology and AI-aided traffic management. The release of the Port Authority’s final scoping document describing the new plan based on an extensive public consultation sets the stage for the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to begin the federal environmental review process consistent with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and FTA regulations.

NJ TRANSIT CEO and President Kevin Corbett executed the agreement with the FTA today, which will provide $766.5 million dollars in federal funding for the Portal North Bridge.

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today, alongside NJ TRANSIT Board Chair and Department of Transportation Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti, NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin Corbett, Amtrak President Stephen Gardner, Federal Railroad Administrator Ron Batory, and Parsons Corporation’s Terry Fetters, announced that NJ TRANSIT’s Positive Train Control (PTC) system has been certified by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) as meeting the December 31, 2020 deadline for implementation. This major accomplishment comes after nearly three years of around the clock work, first to meet the interim milestone for equipment and infrastructure installation at the end of 2018, and then to achieve this certification for full implementation. When Governor Murphy took office in January of 2018, the project was at just 12% completion toward the 2018 interim goal for equipment and infrastructure installation.
