Mahwah Veteran Honors Fellow Service Members with Free Lawn Signs for Veterans Day

Mahwah NJ, Mahwah resident and Marine Corps veteran John Fesen is once again distributing free lawn signs to honor local veterans this Veterans Day, Nov. 11. For the fourth consecutive year, Fesen is funding this initiative entirely out of his own pocket to show appreciation for fellow military service members in his community.

Free After 25 Years: How Ramapo College Investigative Genetic Genealogy Helped Exonerate Two Brothers

Their release is thanks to the cutting-edge work of seven students at the Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) Center at Ramapo College of New Jersey, who cracked open the case in just two days.

Mahwah Man Among Seven Arrested in FBI Child Exploitation Sting

Mahwah Nj, in a collaborative undercover investigation led by the FBI and New York State Police, a Bergen County man and six others have been charged in connection with child exploitation crimes. The operation, named the “Undercover Child Exploitation Detail,” took place in Wallkill, New York, and resulted in the arrest of Dimitriy Smolskiy Jr., 31, of Mahwah, New Jersey, among others.

Mahwah Museum to Unveil Restored 1929 Train Car at Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Mahwah NJ, the Mahwah Museum and the Mahwah Historic Preservation Commission are set to unveil the fully restored exterior of a historic train caboose at a special ribbon-cutting ceremony this Saturday. The event will celebrate the preservation of the circa-1929 train car, which had deteriorated over the years due to weather exposure. Now, thanks to extensive restoration efforts and the addition of a protective pavilion, the caboose will be safeguarded for generations to come.

Forbes Names Ramapo College One of America’s Top Colleges

Mahwah High School Student Launches Boat Built in Wood Shop Class

Mahwah NJ,  Mahwah High School student has turned a woodshop class project into a fully functional boat. Lukas Hart, who grew up in a boating family, launched the 11-foot, 450-pound boat that he designed and built in his advanced woodshop and furniture design class.

Ramapo Students Identify Missing Person in Missouri Cold Case

Mahwah NJ, the Ramapo College of New Jersey Investigative Genetic Genealogy Center (IGG) has aided law enforcement across the country in cold cases since opening its doors in December 2022. Now, students in the IGG Certificate Program were able to use existing IGG technology for a hot case this time, leading to the successful identification of the decedent in a St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office hot case named “St. Louis John Doe.”

As of July 1st, 911 services provided by Bergen County are now free for its municipalities, marking a significant milestone in the county’s efforts to regionalize emergency services.
