A quick internet search reveals numerous articles and videos showing occupied residential home burglaries and car thefts. Criminals involved in these burglaries are looking for valuables such as cash, jewelry, high end clothing, as well as keys for motor vehicles. The New Jersey State Police recorded 11,258 burglaries in 2021 and 13,377 in 2022, a nearly 19% increase.

Upper Saddle River Police Nab Suspects in Numerous Mail Thefts

Upper Saddle River NJ, Upper Saddle River Police Officers stopped a suspicious motor vehicle on East Saddle River Road. An investigation revealed the occupants perpetrated numerous acts of mail theft. As a result, a 36-year-old female and a 42-year-old male from Garfield, New Jersey, were arrested. Both were charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were processed and released on their own recognizance.

VERDUGO, 22, of Upper Saddle River, NJ, who was identified as an additional suspect involved in an armed robbery investigation, which was previously announced on May 21, 2024. This additional arrest is the result of the continuing investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Allendale Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Dillon.

Smyrychynski, who began his role as assistant treasurer in July 2017, names the borough council members, mayor, and borough administrator Theodore Preusch among the defendants.
