Unscathed Driver After Toyota Corolla Crash in Twp. of Washington

Twp. of Washington NJ, in an unusual incident on Thursday afternoon, July 18, a red late-model Toyota Corolla sedan rolled or was driven in reverse down a steep driveway, ending up wedged under the rear deck of a single-family home in Washington Township. Remarkably, the driver reported no injuries.

Ridgewood Village Council’s Push to Curtail Public Comments Silenced

Ridgewood NJ, at the June 26 Village Council meeting, Councilwoman Winograd was PUSHING to have the first public comments session permanently moved way down the agenda, Councilwoman Perron was not in attendance, but Mayor Vagianos and Councilman Weitz agreed with Winograd.  Councilwoman Lorraine Reynolds was completely opposed and clearly stated that public comments should be at the beginning and at the end, not at the middle and the end, of each meeting.  Ms. Winograd got it moved forward to be on the agenda for a vote at the July 17 Village Council Public Meeting.

Garfield Takes Legal Action Against Dow Chemical and Others Over Drinking Water Contamination

Garfield NJ,the city of Garfield has announced that it will take Dow Chemical Company and several other corporations to court, claiming they are responsible for contaminating the city’s drinking water. The lawsuit alleges that Dow, Vibrantz Corporation (formerly Ferro), Vulcan Materials, and other unnamed companies “designed, advertised, manufactured, marketed, distributed, stored, and/or sold 1,4-dioxane with the knowledge that this toxic compound would be released into the environment even when used as directed and intended.” Furthermore, the suit claims these companies failed to warn users about the dangers associated with the chemical.
