1,000 signatures on a petition is clearly enough given the number of votes in our town elections.
We need to vote out of office those who are pushing this through. Unfortunately, next spring’s election may be too far away to stop this insanity.
The Board was hoodwinked by the developers, Gail Price and Blais Brancheau. Blais’ only concern was what he could do for the developers. Gail literally spent an hour telling the board why they should not listen to any of the comments from the Villagers who spoke out.
Its an outrageously sad day for the Village.
Time to recall, starting with the mayor…or maybe Hauck?? Let’s start with the weakest…

Based on 2014, Ridgewood has 17,056 registered voters so we need a little more than 4,200 signatures or less than the number of children in the schools. Completely doable and will be done if they think they can shove this down our throats and we will go away quietly.

The Village Council approved on May27 a contract for a consulting firm to study two options for a parking garage on Hudson Street.
The governing body also discussed a potential bond ordinance that would cover pre-construction funding for such a project.
The contract, approved by a 5-0 vote, was awarded to New York-based Walker Parking Consultants, which will perform an evaluation of automated parking systems versus traditional parking garages for the lot at Hudson Street.
The study needs to be done prior to a request for proposals (RFP) on the design, said Village Manager Roberta Sonenfeld. The village must decide if it wants to build a traditional deck or one with automated parking before going out for an RFP, she said.
Councilwoman Susan Knudsen inquired about the cover letter submitted by Walker, which said the Hudson Street lot was only 100 feet wide and does not have the dimensions for an efficient self-park garage, thereby defeating the purpose of studying two systems.
Village Engineer Chris Rutishauser agreed the lot does not have the depth for a traditional deck, but a study done by Ridgewood’s engineering department revealed there were a number of options the village had if it wished to build a traditional deck.

The program, Security Awareness and Vigilance for Everyone (S.A.V.E.) brought together approximately 55 law enforcement, public safety and security personnel from the region. The training is designed to enhance the capabilities of security and public safety personnel responsible for protecting specific areas of infrastructure by providing behavior assessment screening training.
It is a goal of our department to develop and enhance community security & safety through the integration of these public/private partnerships and joint trainings into our overall community policing and homeland security activities.

Sealed bid proposals will be received by the Village of Ridgewood, in the Level Three (3) conference room at the Village Hall, 131 North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood, New Jersey, 07450 on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at 11:00 A.M., prevailing time, and then publicly opened and read aloud for the following:
“Lester Stable and Graydon Pool Parking Lot
ADA Access Sloped Ramps”
The work of the Contract shall consist of the construction of concrete sloped entry ramps complying with the American’s With Disabilities Act requirements for the Village of Ridgewood’s Lester Stable and Graydon Pool Parking Lot. Principal items of the work include, but are not limited to the following: 4 and 6 inch thick concrete sidewalk, Belgian Block and Concrete Curbs, Hot Mix Asphalt driveways, placement of topsoil/seeding/ fertilizing, a set of concrete steps, hand railings, concrete edge protection, field stone work with re-pointing, and construction of a small concrete structural wall in accordance with the technical specifications, descriptions, and drawings in the bid documents.
Specifications and bid forms may be obtained by mail from the office of the Division of Engineering, 131 North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood, New Jersey 07450 for a non-refundable fee of $25.00 per set of bid documents. Documents may be examined or picked up in person between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Village Hall, 131 North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood, New Jersey 07450, Monday through Friday. The successful bidder shall comply with all applicable provisions of the Prevailing Wage Act, as determined by the New Jersey Department of Labor. If your address is an odd number, you may irrigate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays only. If your address is an even number, you may irrigate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays only. A handheld hose may be used at any time including Mondays.
This plan will be in effect each year starting on June 1st and will continue through August 31st. If conditions warrant, irrigation will be prohibited on additional days of the week up to and including a total ban on irrigation.

The local budget season came to an end in Ridgewood with the formal adoption of a $47 million spending plan on Wednesday night.
The budget, which was passed by a 3-2 vote, is primarily funded by a $33 million tax levy – $31 million for municipal purposes and another $2 million for the public library. The municipal portion of a Ridgewood resident’s tax bill will by increase 1.2 percent, or $46.12 on a home assessed at the village average of $690,062.
The municipal budget has significant investments in services and people, said Village Manager Roberta Sonenfeld, including revitalization of the Building Department, establishment of Human Resources, growth in technology, reaccreditation of the Ridgewood Police Department and enhanced support for the community center. Improvements in parking include the hiring of a chief financial officer who doubles as the parking utility director and implementation of ParkMobile and other strategies to minimize the handling of quarters, the village manager said.
The budget also comes with some risk as the village currently has $7.1 million in unfunded liability payments and utilized one-time revenues in 2015, such as the $800,000 reimbursement received from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). There are also some expenses, such as legal fees for the Planning Board and police contract negotiations as well as maintenance of the village’s aging infrastructure, which could exceed the amount set aside in their respective lines.

RIDGEWOOD—With only a few weeks to live, a Ridgewood man is on his way to fulfill his dying wish: to see the sunset in Hawaii.
“I think it’s one of the most beautiful places on the planet,” said Ed Schwartz, whose battle with blood cancer can no longer be waged medically. “Doctors are telling me I only have a few weeks. I’d much rather spend the time there, in paradise.”
Schwartz, known locally as “Eco Ed” for his work as an environmentalist, began his journey to Maui on Wednesday, along with his wife, Julie Tung, and his son, Kyle. They took off this morning from Teterboro in an air ambulance, heading to Oakland, Calif., in order to take a charter plane for the rest of the way. Friends and community members have raised more than $35,000 on a GoFundMe page to help make the trip possible.
After undergoing chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant and various trials, Schwartz has run out of treatment options and doesn’t have much time left, Tung told NJ Advance Media by phone, when they stopped to refuel the medical transport in Omaha, Neb. They don’t have a set plan for their visit, except to relax and enjoy the scenery, she said.
“We don’t have a game plan. We don’t know how long we’ll have,” she said. “If he could just see one last sunset, it will be worth it.”
Schwartz was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a rare form of blood cancer, in late 2013. Before he started chemotherapy, he asked his doctor if he could first take a trip to Hawaii, Tung said. The answer was “yes, but you’ll die.” So, they held off on the trip, but now, knowing that the cancer is incurable, “it’s time to go,” she said.
