Hackensack,NJ, the Hackensack Fire Department is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) for the 2023 fiscal year in the amount of $278,000. This grant will enable the department to provide specialized training to enhance the skills and capabilities of its firefighters.
The grant will be used to provide 36 firefighters with swift water technician level training and 28 firefighters with boat rescue operation training. This training will equip our firefighters with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to water-related emergencies and ensure the safety of our community members.
In a special ceremony held at the Fire Headquarters today, Congressman Josh Gottheimer joined Fire Chief Anthony Riehl to officially present the grant to the department. The Hackensack Fire Department is honored to receive this grant and is grateful for the opportunity to further enhance the capabilities of its firefighting personnel.
