Newark NJ, the excitement is building as the biggest sporting event in the world, the FIFA World Cup 2026, approaches. With less than two years to go, meticulous preparations are underway to ensure a smooth and successful event. From security to transportation, every detail is being fine-tuned. In a bid to share insights and best practices for large-scale event preparedness, NJ TRANSIT recently hosted a crucial workshop for transportation leaders from around the globe.

A Collaborative Workshop on Transportation and Security

NJ TRANSIT Police OEM Sergeant Jose Tirado played a key role in the workshop, sharing invaluable knowledge on transportation, infrastructure, and security efficiencies. His presentation highlighted the essential focus areas that will ensure the seamless movement of people and goods during the World Cup.

Held at Rutgers Newark, the workshop was the first in a series of similar events planned in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup 2026. This initial session was a collaborative effort between NJ TRANSIT, the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), and Rutgers Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT).

Preparing for the Biggest Sporting Event Ever

The workshop brought together transportation leaders to discuss strategies and solutions for handling the immense logistics of the World Cup. Topics covered included security protocols, infrastructure improvements, and transportation efficiencies. The aim was to foster a global exchange of ideas and experiences that will contribute to the successful hosting of the World Cup.

  1. It will be a GRASS field, not turf.

  2. Paul Vagiano’s has failed as Mayor, things in Ridgewood have not improved and things have gotten worse. Do you want another 4 years of this? Please vote NO

-Residents paying a premium for municipal water while having to purchase bottled water because they cannot drink the water which will only be clean by a proposed timeframe of 2 more years
    – Failed Pedestrian Plaza
-Business district not thriving with 23 vacant storefronts
    – Pushed for $60k on designer garbage cans, now overflowing all over town
-Village staff morale is at an all time low and financial furlough was a near miss last year
-Higher than normal PFAS level in municipal water with 2 more years to go until you can drink it
-Soil contamination at historic property with known contaminents
-Alleged soil dumping at Habernickel currently untested and not being addressed/discussed
-Town Garage property purchase remained a secret until news broke-remediation will be requried.
-Numerous special interest projects take priority like a $350k+ special pavillion to be built at Habernickle and multi sports complex planned for Schedler
-$4 million Feed the Frontlines money with no traceable receipts
-$47k mortgage loan to Parks & Rec/Conservation Chair and law firm partner with billboard application in front of Ridgewood’s Zoning Board
-not prioritizing safety projects or flooding early in his tenure because of special interests

VOTE NO TO ANOTHER 4 YEARS OF BLIND SPENDING

    1. …and the inside of his restaurant (I use that term in the broadest form) smells and has 100% humidity inside. Seriously.

    2. You have posted the same nonsense on Facebook.

Your issues are yours. You have been whining too long.

Run for office. You have too many problems for anyone else to care about.

  3. Ridgewood is an Overrated town. I’m sure they’ll be Furlough next year. They have posted so many bonds the village is in debt.
