Trenton NJ, To celebrate Read Across America 2019, Colonel Patrick Callahan stopped by Charles Street School in Palmyra to read to a group of 1st grade students during “Crazy Hat and Sock Day!”

The Colonel read, “Giggle, Giggle, Quack” by Doreen Cronin and the Dr. Suess classic, “Horton Hears a Who.”

The Colonel felt that “Horton Hears a Who” promotes a message of equality—highlighting the line, “A person is a person no matter how big or small.”

And while many children’s books are meant to be fun and lighthearted, it’s extremely important that our young audience have their attention directed to the positive messages within them. These are valuable lessons for our future doctors, lawyers, teachers, writers, engineers, and most importantly, New Jersey State Troopers!

Judging by the smiles on everyone’s face, it’s safe to say that the kids enjoyed the visit almost as much as the Colonel, who admitted that this was the highlight of his week!
