  1. >”Experts” yea right

  2. >Who gives a crap how many towns have made this mistake? just because they have , doesn’t mean we should. I can’t imagine what expertise a “school administrator” has on police enforcement of municipal ordinances and civil liberties.

  3. >are these the experts that give the Kids Riddlin?

  4. >everyone in the state voted for that stupid crook loser macgreevy and it dosent make it less dumb…

  5. >since when does Ridgewood want to copy the rest of the idiots in this sh*t state

  6. >just think the cops can eneter your home and perhaps get your daughters phone number…

  7. >I believe the experts are experts in substance abuse…why would you question their expertise? Please focus on helping solve the problem — if you don’t like the ordinance, state your case and then let us know what other ideas do you have?

School administrators have expertise on activities of our teens. That’s why they would be involved.

Why are you people so aggressively dense? If you don’t want the ordinance, fine, but why do you have to make fun of people who are just TRYING to help? Wouldn’t a civil, grown-up discussion be better?

  8. >sorry but you have to have done something RIGHT just once to be and expert…a bunch of hacks the dont know crap are not experts…

  9. >”School administrators have expertise on activities of our teens. That’s why they would be involved.”…if they were experts the problem would not exist …

  10. >ok, I know you didn’t just mean to imply that it is the responsibility of the school administrators to solve the underage drinking problem. Gasp! That would mean letting “the man” raise your kids!

And 9:42 — do you even know who is on the agenda as a substance abuse expert? How can you call someone a hack who has done nothing right when you don’t know who they are? You’re an idiot. And a coward. All of you are — fine, we can let parents be parents to their own kids, but then the question remains, HOW to actually CHANGE the dangerous behaviors that are going on? It sounds like you are saying that our focus should be more on educating the parents? (Boy, I am being generous here by giving you the benefit of the doubt.) I think you are on to something there…since the parents are allowing the drinking…how can we as a society change THEIR behavior? What do you think would work? Ideas?

  11. >Right on, BB, now you’re getting closer to the heart of the matter. The proposed ordinances are not, I think, directed at the kids, they are directed at the adults. It is obvious to me that the responsibility for allowing, enabling, in some cases financially subsidizing teen drinking lies with the adults in the community. Either by hosting teen drinking parties in absentia, or in the most absurd cases, hosting teen parties in person, the adults (read parents) are responsible for creating this problem. Obviously, it’s not just in Ridgewood. But in the effort to coddle our kids, be their best friends, not do anything to disappoint them, we have created a situation that is so out of control that only Draco himself can solve it for us. Threats of host liabilty have not worked. Enforcement of DUI laws with tougher penalities has not worked. What will work is a concentrated effort to improve the relationship that many of the adults in this town have with alcohol. Judging by what I’ve seen and done in this town, many of the relationships are excessive, not healthy and contribute to the overall problem that many of us grown-ups seem to have with alcohol. And since we have taught our kids that they are entitled to the same rights as adults we have encouraged them to be as abusive of the fire water as we are. Address the root of the drinking problem. It’s not the kids in Ridgewood. We don’t need another law that just passes the buck further and further down the road. The police have enough to do, and so do the courts. Wise up and look at yourselves in the mirror. Take responsibility for your little corner of the community and then act responsively to help solve the problem.

  12. >Why are you people so aggressively dense? If you don’t want the ordinance, fine, but why do you have to make fun of people who are just TRYING to help? Wouldn’t a civil, grown-up discussion be better? …ask the cops that when they kick down your door

  13. >Good comeback, 2:50. Now why don’t you crawl back in front of the TV, turn NASCAR back on and crack open some brewskis for your little ones. Leave the intelligent discourse to the grown-ups. Your inane comments are not contributing to the conversation.

  14. >I can’t believe there have been no follow-up comments after the meeting the other night on the proposed municipal ordinance. Really? No one went? No one has a comment on what was said? Hmmm…..

  15. >What did “2:50” say?
