Couple Arrested in Stabbing of a North Arlington Man

North Arlington NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of BRIANA BUESO (DOB: 10/27/2003; single; cashier) of 322 Bain Bridge Street, Brooklyn, New York and KEYANA COATES (DOB: 9/05/1999; single, food delivery worker) of 810 Broadway Apt 107, Newark, New Jersey on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. The arrests are the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the North Arlington Police Department under the direction of Chief Scott Hedenberg.

On Wednesday, January 5, 2021 at approximately 7:39 a.m., the North Arlington Police Department responded to a stabbing incident at 2 Ridge Road, North Arlington, New Jersey where officers discovered a 43-year-old female victim with a stab wound. She was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where she is being treated. During the altercation, a 20-year-old male was also stabbed. He was transported to Clara Maass Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

An investigation conducted by detectives from the North Arlington Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that BRIANA BUESO and KEYANA COATES attacked the 43-year-old victim and COATES stabbed the victim with a knife. During the altercation, COATES also stabbed the 20-year-old male victim.

On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, BRIANA BUESO was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1/2C:11-3a(1); one count of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2; two counts of second-degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(b)1; one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d; and one count of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5d.

On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, KEYANA COATES was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1/2C:11-3a(1); one count of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2; two counts of aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(b)1; one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d; and one count of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5d.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the North Arlington Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
