Cresskill NJ, a Cresskill student has leveled accusations against a teacher’s aide, alleging harassment and the posing of sexually suggestive questions. The student’s parents have filed a lawsuit in state Superior Court against both the aide and the Cresskill Board of Education, citing incidents that occurred in November 2021.

In the legal documents, the student recounts instances where teacher’s aide Stan Friedman allegedly inquired about the color of her underwear and engaged in inappropriate behavior such as sniffing her hair while commenting on its pleasant scent.

The lawsuit highlights that this wasn’t the first occasion Friedman had questioned the student about intimate details, and she wasn’t his sole target.

According to the legal filing, the student’s parents promptly reported the misconduct to Merritt Memorial School Principal Sean Conlon and Superintendent Michael Burke. Both administrators acknowledged the gravity of the allegations and extended apologies to the family.

The lawsuit asserts that the Board of Education acknowledged Friedman’s misconduct, resulting in his termination. However, the family contends that the termination did not prevent the enduring “permanent lifelong injury” to the student.

Furthermore, the legal action alleges that the Cresskill Board of Education’s failure to conduct a thorough background check before hiring Friedman constituted negligence, ultimately leading to the suffering of the student and other students.
